Christina Ricci doesn’t want her 10-year-old son to be a child actor, but not for the reason some might think.
The actress made a recent appearance on the Today show, where she was asked if her son Freddie would ever follow in her acting footsteps.
“Well, my son Freddie likes to come to set. He’s been on the set of Yellowjackets quite a lot,” Ricci explained. “He actually has his own chair. And he loves being on set and thinks it’s so fun, and every time he’s on set, he asks me if he can be a child actor.”
However, per Ricci, he likely won’t be landing any roles anytime soon for one logistical reason.
“I’m like, ‘Who’s going to take you, like I have to work.’ So, no. Because I’m like, ‘Who’s going to go with you?’ I can’t go with you,” the Yellowjackets star joked. “But I think he would be a very good actor. He’s very good at tricking me into things, you know, deception.”
Ricci shares Freddie with her ex-husband, James Heerdegen. She also has a 3-year-old daughter, Cleopatra, with Mark Hampton. They have been married since 2021.
The Pan Am actress has worked in Hollywood since she was a child, scoring her breakout role at 11 years old as Wednesday Addams in 1991’s The Addams Family. She also reprised her role in the 1993 sequel, Addams Family Values.
Ricci has starred in dozens of projects over the decades, most recently in the hit series Yellowjackets, which drops its third season on Feb. 14. She also appeared in the first season of Netflix’s Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams.
