Christine Brown's kids were not all in on in her husband, David Woolley, right away.
On the Sunday, November 3, episode of Sister Wives — filmed before Christine and Woolley's October 2023 nuptials — the TLC star, 52, coordinated a family dinner with then-boyfriend Woolley, 60, and her kids — son Paedon, 25, and daughters Aspyn, 28, Mykelti, 27, Gwendlyn, 22, Ysabel, 20, and Truely, 13 — whom she shares with ex-husband Kody Brown. (Christine and Kody split in 2021 after over 25 years of marriage.)
"Some of my kids are great with David. Some of my kids are, like, on the fence a bit," Christine confessed to the cameras, before noting two of her kids — Gwendlyn and Paedon — had never met Woolley before.
Christine stressed that it was crucial for her kids to get along with Woolley, declaring, "I'm going to marry David. I just am." (Prior to meeting Woolley, Christine was in a plural marriage with Kody and her fellow sister wives Meri Brown, Janelle Brown and Robyn Brown. She was the first to split from Kody, while Meri and Janelle soon followed suit.)
Before Woolley arrived to the family dinner, the reality TV star jokingly told her kids, "Please be nice this time." Paedon told cameras that Woolley should expect to be immediately insulated when he comes in as that's part of the family's signature wit. Gwendlyn, for her part, was absent from the dinner.
When Woolley arrived, Aspyn asked him how looking for wedding venues was going, to which he said they already found one — despite not yet being engaged at the time. Christine explained, "We are getting married. We have a wedding date, but we're not engaged yet."
Aspyn then expressed her fears about her mom's relationship moving too fast.
"I am surprised by how fast things are going. My mom did just get out of a what, 25-year relationship, and then starts talking about getting married. It does seem really, really, really fast," Aspyn said in her confessional.
While the dinner seemingly went well, Christine told cameras that two of her kids were struggling with her relationship.
"Paedon's having a hard time, and Ysabel's having a hard time with how fast we're moving. She likes David, but she just thinks it's moving really fast," the TV personality admitted.
Christine and Woolley ultimately tied the knot in October 2023 in Moab, Utah — all of Christine's kids were present for her special day except Gwendlyn. The pair seem to be going strong, reaching their first wedding anniversary in October. Woolley also shared a heartfelt post on Instagram about his love for Christine last month.
Sister Wives airs on TLC on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET.
