An Australian woman returned home from vacation to find a horrifying sight in her home, and TikTok viewers are sharing her fright.
Alexandra Tuohey traveled to Sydney with her family for a week, but when she returned to her home outside of Melbourne, she was greeted by three massive huntsman spiders on the her living room wall.
She told Newsweek: "When we came home, we got an awful shock that we had left the air conditioner on the entire time we were away.
"When I filmed it, there was some huntsman spiders on the wall. I wasn't worried about the spiders, they aren't venomous, but I am still worried about how I will financially recover from this upcoming electricity bill."
She continued: "I just left the spiders alone, and when I woke up in the morning they were gone. Probably hiding somewhere else in the house. I often see huntsmans in my house, they are very common in Australia. So much so that people often give them names. We call ours Gary."
"Australians know," she joked in the caption of the video, which has received over 25 million views since it was posted on January 2. The clip shows Tuohey arriving home and showing the three spiders on her wall, all near her air-conditioning unit.
Huntsman spiders are common in Australia, along with other species such as trap door spiders, redback spiders and Sydney funnel-web spiders, according to Australia's Expert Pest Control webiste.
Tuohey's video received a large number of comments from horrified viewers. "For my own mental health, this is AI, right?" said M.
Dani commented: "So what do you do? Move? Or is there an emergency hotline for this?"
"Ok, Canadian here. What on earth do you guys do when the spider in your home is THAT big? I would die of fright! So what now?" said @brightsight22.
"Girl those are literally intruders. Call the cops," said @sinforcaramell.
Meanwhile, @littlebugaustralia commented: "Australian here. I can confirm, yes, huntsman spiders are often that size. But they are harmless to humans. I've had many of them in my home. The size does startle you though."
"I'm going to pretend that this is a filter and isn't real," said @aestival.
"Huntsman spiders might be harmless, but they're scary as h-e-l-l. Spiders do not need to be that large. Like, why?" @Seadragon77 wrote.
Teri said: "And that's just the ones you can see! What about the ones hiding in like the sofa? I'd never go back into that house."
