Woman Sets Sights on Adopting Puppy, Until She Learned the Mom's Fate

1 month ago 7

People wanting to bring home a new furry family member typically go for younger pets as it means fewer health problems and more time to spend together. However, one woman learned about a momma dog's fate and couldn't resist taking a chance on her instead.

Dog owner Molly, also known on TikTok as @mollykeenanxx, had her sights set on welcoming home a puppy and started looking into the possibility of getting a cocker spaniel. However, that plan quickly changed.

Molly's TikTok video, which was posted on November 6, explained how a breeder planned on putting the momma pup down if no one wanted her, even offering her up for free because she was "too old to work anymore." Instead of sticking to her puppy plan, Molly pivoted after falling in love with the dog. She was too cute to pass up and the thought of her not making it didn't sit right.

Immediately coming to the decision, the video's text overlay reads, "We just HAD to have her."

The photos in Molly's video show this mama dog in good hands with Molly and her family, although Molly wrote in the comments section it took the dog some time to adjust. But once she did, the dog became Molly's "bestest friend."

Her retired life has been filled with nothing but cuddles, treats and unconditional love since they brought her home in 2021. The dog even looks at them with eyes of appreciation as if she knew her life had been spared.

Newsweek reached out to @mollykeenanxx via TikTok for additional comment.

TikTok Users React

With over 87,900 views as of Friday afternoon, people celebrated Molly for saving the mama dog.

"Omg thank you so much for doing this," wrote one TikTok user.

Another added: "She doesn't even know, but she knows. She knows you saved her."

But while users applauded the life she gave her dog, others were "disgusted" a breeder would have put her down.

"I hate the way breeders treat their dogs as a business and don't love them. I've seen so many mums being sold recently as too old to have anymore pups. She doesn't know anyone else," a user commented.
