Yankees Advised To Pursue 2024 Dodgers World Series Hero In Free Agency

The New York Yankees offseason is set to be one of the most important offseasons in team history. With a good offseason, they'll be set to compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the rest of the powerhouse teams in the league. With a bad offseason, the Dodgers will leave the Yankees behind, especially after Los Angeles signed ace Blake Snell this week.

What better way to catch the Dodgers than to steal their free agents from them?

That's exactly what FanSided's Jacob Mountz is recommending the Yankees do. Mountz has urged the Yankees to pursue Dodgers World Series hero Walker Buehler in free agency. Spotrac projects Buehler to sign a one-year, $3.8 million deal.

"Walker Buehler is not one of the top names on the market but he could still be the top arm. Brian Cashman has already picked up on this tidbit of useful information and has seemingly joined the pursuit," Mountz wrote. "Having witnessed Buehler's postseason excellence firsthand, there isn't any doubt to why the Yankees want him. This winter, Buehler could be the unexpected prize of the offseason."

Though Buehler is projected to sign for about $4 million, it's highly doubtful he actually signs for that low of a number. Instead, Buehler could land a contract more like two years, $20 million.

If the Yankees can get him for less than $10 million a year, they should absolutely pursue it. New York could explore trades for some of its starting pitchers to make room for Buehler on the roster, though the team hasn't voiced the eagerness to move on from many of its starters yet.
