Yankees Could Trade For Top Prospect To Replace $15 Million Gleyber Torres

The San Francisco Giants have a lot of talent but they're going to need to add more to compete in the National League West. We could see San Francisco get aggressive in the trade market in an attempt to close the gap with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

R.J. Anderson of CBS Sports recently urged the San Francisco Giants to trade former top prospect Marco Luciano to acquire more big-league talent at positions of need.

"Indeed, San Francisco has made long-term commitments at third base (Matt Chapman) and shortstop (Willy Adames) since last summer," Anderson wrote. "That leaves Luciano with two possible destinations: another part of the diamond, or another organization entirely.

"Seeing as how Luciano still has some marketable attributes -- he's young (23) and he possesses undeniable strength and feel for the strike zone -- I could see the Giants moving him in exchange for a player with a more clear fit on their roster."

If San Francisco is opting to deal him, the best option to land the young infielder would be the New York Yankees.

The Yankees are still looking to add an infielder to replace Gleyber Torres, who bolted for a $15 million deal with the Detroit Tigers this winter.

New York has the flexibility to add either a second baseman or a third baseman to replace Torres as Jazz Chisholm Jr. can play anywhere.

Making a trade that's built around the foundation of Marcus Stroman plus prospects for Luciano could make sense for both sides.
