‘Yellowjackets’ Season 3 Sets Valentine’s Day Premiere

Roses are red, violets are blue, the wilderness chose them, and now they choose you! On Friday, February 14, 2025, “Yellowjackets” finally returns with its Season 3 premiere. The Emmy-nominated TV show’s holiday-themed homecoming arrives complete with the same all-star cast and a flirty and fitting new tagline: EAT YOUR HEART OUT.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, Showtime and Paramount+’s foremost time-hopping, teen cannibalism dramedy kicks off its third premiere with not one but two episodes that Friday: A first for the series which previously launched Season 1 and 2 with single episodes in the fall and the spring. The double-trouble winter release will be available through streaming and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers via the Showtime add-on just in time for Valentine’s Day. They’ll then premiere on-air through the premium cable network the night of Sunday, February 16.

That staggered release strategy worked well for “Yellowjackets” last season, despite mixed critical reviews; IndieWire’s Ben Travers gave the sophomore effort a “B-” and called it smart with a soft sting. The puzzle-box survival epic broke records on the streaming platform and continued to generate significant buzz and fan theories through social media.

Following in the grim footsteps of other brilliantly strange shows, like the divisive and boundary-breaking “Lost,” this semi-supernatural mystery follows a teen girls’ soccer team — and their older counterparts 25 years in the future — amid the aftermath of a harrowing plane crash. The disaster soon sees the high schoolers hunting each other for sustenance and sport in the punishing Canadian wilderness as their animalistic instincts (and maybe something even more sinister??) takes over.

In Season 3, Hilary Swank and Joel McHale (both in undisclosed roles) join a cast already boasting Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawney Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Simone Kessell, Warren Kole, Elijah Wood, and Sarah Desjardins. Back in the ’90s, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Krueger, and Kevin Alves also star.

Last we saw the girls, they were coping with both a newfound taste for human flesh —  and their only shelter burning to the ground in the middle of an otherwise icy and desolate tundra. Meanwhile, the aged-up survivors are struggling to avoid getting caught having buried a body while simultaneously mourning the sudden loss of one of their own.
