The Himachal Pradesh Police has warned the masses that scammers are using digital wedding invitations to spread malware and compromise the personal data of the user. To do the same, scammers are using malicious APK files that are being shown on the app as digital wedding invitations.

Now, downloading these files can expose your smartphone to infection and the hackers can even get complete access to your device. This whole scenario will let them send messages, make a copy of your personal information, or even extort money from the users who get trapped.

A report published by News18 suggested that the digital wedding invitation scam tricks users into downloading suspicious files on their phones. And it all starts when the victim receives a file from an unknown number and downloads it because of their curiosity.

And the worst part is that the malicious app looks more like a digital wedding invitation. Apart from using phone access to steal files, money, and other things, scammers can also impersonate the victim and send messages to their contacts asking for money. This can cause damage to both the reputation and finances of the victim. The only way to stay safe from this kind of scam is to avoid any downloadable files from unknown numbers at all costs or make sure the number is verified before you download anything.
