Zendaya admits she 'harbours a little animosity' over 'scary' 2013 loss

Zendaya admitted she 'harbours a little animosity' over losing Dancing With The Stars in 2013.

The Challengers star, 28, took part in season 16 of the American dance competition with professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy. She was only 16 years old and was part of Disney's dance series Shake It Up, but ultimately finished in second place after losing out to Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough

In a recent interview with W Magazine, she confessed she is still 'harbouring a little animosity' over the loss as she took the show 'seriously'. The star, who no longer watches the show, said: "I felt that loss. I was only 16 years old, and it was highly stressful. Being on live television every week? It’s so scary."

She added that she wishes she 'didn't' take the competition as 'seriously' as she did. "I wish I'd enjoyed it a little bit more and just was like, 'Eh, whatever.' You know what I mean? But I was stressing myself out. I really went through it on that," the Dune actress revealed.

Zendaya previously talked about how she 'didn't really watch' the show before she took part in it. Speaking on Entertainment Weekly's Awardist podcast in October, she said: "I have not watched Dancing With the Stars since I was on. I didn't really watch Dancing With the Stars before I was on Dancing With the Stars.

"I don't think I was the target demographic. My grandma loves Dancing With the Stars, that's her bag." It comes after her boyfriend and Spiderman co-star, Tom Holland, opened up about his plans about stepping back from the spotlight and becoming a stay-at-home dad.

Speaking to Men's Health in an interview published this week, Tom said: "When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore." The actor further told the outlet: "Golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth." Tom's fans know about his love for golf, with the star occasionally sharing posts about the sport on his Instagram account.

He even played in a tournament with professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood back in September. The Crowded Room star Tom was joined by his brothers Harry Holland and Sam Holland for the BMW PGA Championship. He also spoke in the interview about his break from acting, saying that he "needed" the sabbatical after having been "acting flat out" since he was a child.
