Happy Death Day (2017)
Happy Death Day Trailer #1 (2017) | Movieclips Trailers
Combining the premise of Groundhog Day with a horror movie felt almost inevitable, but Happy Death Day is much better than it has any right to be. The film tells the story of a college student who finds herself living the day of her death over and over. Most of the time, she dies at the hands of a mysterious killer who she must work to unmask.
At the same time, she also needs to figure out how she wound up in a time loop to begin with, and what it might take to break out of it. Featuring a hilarious, hugely charismatic central performance from Jessica Rothe, Happy Death Day and its sequel are both fun and just the right amount of terrifying.
You can watch Happy Death Day on Peacock.
It Follows (2014)
It Follows Official Trailer 1 (2015) - Horror Movie HD
A horror movie that feels genuinely terrifying from the moment it starts, It Follows tells the story of a teenager who discovers that she has inherited a supernatural virus that will follow her and eventually kill her. After she convinces her friend that the curse she’s facing is real, they band together to stop it before it’s too late.
It Follows has the kind of set pieces that most horror movies can only aspire to, and its invocation of a malevolent force that simply follows you without rest is the kind of thing that will keep you looking behind you the next time you take a walk.
You can watch It Follows on Peacock.
The Hotel Transylvania Series (2012-)
At first blush, it might not seem like there’s much worth recommending about the Hotel Transylvania franchise other than a fun central performance from Adam Sandler. The films follow the goings-on at a hotel for famed horror creatures, but the reason these movies are worth watching is because of the inventive animation, which makes the movies into genuine comedies. These movies are definitely targeted primarily at children, but you’ll find that the entire franchise has things that viewers of all ages can enjoy.
You can watch the Hotel Transylvania series on Peacock.
