This comes weeks after the rapper turned down $3M to perform at a Trump rally.
The 2024 presidential election ended in triumph for some and disappointment for others, as Donald Trump came out victorious. 50 Cent celebrated the moment with an ill-timed post on Instagram, drawing the ire of many of his fans.
The 49-year-old rapper posted a photo of him shaking the President Elect’s hand, as well as a grainy selfie they took years ago. “I don’t care how the fight goes, I’m leaving with the winner sh*t,” he wrote in the caption. “I still don’t know what’s going on *facepalm emoji* congratulations!”
“Damn gotta unfollow you too,” one user wrote in his comments. “So…. You’re making a documentary exposing Diddy while voting for White Diddy????” another user asked him. The G-Unit leader has been one of the most vocal figures throughout Diddy’s legal ordeals related to his sex crimes; standing by the 78-year-old politician, who has similar allegations, understandably made fans raise their eyebrows.
This also comes weeks after 50, born Curtis Jackson, turned down $3M from the Trump campaign to perform at a recent rally.
“One thing most black men gonna do is not show up for a black women!!!!” another user wrote. “Damn 50 smh I thought you were better than this,” an additional fan added. “Congratulations Trump voters. You deserve what’s going to happen,” one more user said.
It wasn’t all negativity in 50 Cent’s comments though. “The celebrity worshippers in the comment section who voted for Kamala because of Cardi B & 90% of celebrities endorsing her have the nerve to be in here calling 50 Cent a sellout,” one fan wrote. “Man, you can’t make this stuff up. *laughing emojis* TRUMP 2024 *American flag emoji*.”
Regarding those who said they were going to unfollow Fif, one fan wrote this: “33.9Million followers and ppl in the comments saying they unfollowing *shrug emoji* that number won’t even budge *laughing emojis*.”
The “In Da Club” rapper has a complicated history with Donald Trump and the Republican party.
This past June, 50 Cent visited Washington, D.C., and shared a photo with Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert. She is known for her controversial views on same-sex marriage and Muslims, plus being removed from a theater while watching Beetlejuice due to groping the person she attended the show with. “Wow, 50. First time in my life that I feel embarrassed for you,” one fan wrote in the comments. “But why would you even take a picture with this embarrassment to Congress?” another fan asked.
In July, when someone attempted to assassinate Donald Trump, the Power executive producer immediately capitalized on the moment by showing a meme of the President Elect’s head edited onto his body from his Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ album cover while performing “Many Men (Wish Death).” He seemingly believed that Trump surviving the shooting would power him to victory this month, as he wrote “I know the vibes. We are all in trouble now” on Instagram.
