90 Day Fiancé star Ingrid Rezende was left in shock when Brian Muniz revealed that he’s been married four times before their romance.
In a teaser clip for the Sunday, November 24, episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days shared by People, Brian, 51, revealed that he had been married several times while he and Ingrid, 33, went out to eat with a friend in Recife, Brazil. The news shocked Ingrid, who was under the impression that Brian had only been married twice in the past.
Brian – who was in the process of finalizing his fourth divorce when the episode was filmed – brought up the conversation when he said that it’s easier to get divorced in the United States compared to Brazil.
“I’ve been through this three times,” he said in Portuguese. “Four in total if you count the one here in Recife.”
Ingrid appeared visibly surprised as she responded, “What? How many times, Brian?”
The clip then cut to Brian discussing his most recent marriage in a confessional, explaining that he met his ex-wife after he moved to Recife. Once the pair had been married for a few months, he said that realized that his ex had been “using” him “for the Green Card” and they eventually split.
“This is why I definitely don’t take marriage lightly anymore,” Brian continued. “I’ve been married four times, so before I get married a fifth time, I really need to make sure that she’s the one.”
After implying that Ingrid knew about his ex-wife by saying it’s “frustrating” to get divorced in the country, she made it clear that she was caught off guard and insisted that she wasn’t aware that he had been married four times.
In her own confessional, Ingrid admitted that learning about Brian’s past marriages was a red flag for her. “Why is he married four times and it didn’t work out?” she asked. “Why is he alone? There’s something wrong.”
The couple made their reality TV debut during season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 5, which premiered on TLC in September.
Brian and Ingrid met after he spent time coaching wheelchair rugby in her native Brazil.
“I found it to be much easier to meet and date people in Brazil than here in the United States,” Brian – who is a quadriplegic – told cameras in a confessional. “In my experience, the attitude in the States, toward guys in wheelchairs, it’s like, they’re just like last resort.”
Brian’s marriage bombshell isn’t the only shocking information he’s shared on the show. During the September 22 episode, he revealed that he previously worked as a drug dealer.
“I sold for five years. I used it too. And at the time, I met my second wife. I drank a case of beer a day, with three grams of cocaine on the table,” he explained to Ingrid at the time. “So, all that, after a while looking in the mirror, I look in the mirror and I look like a zombie. And I got tired of it. I tried to leave it all behind.”
