Shekinah Garner and Sarper Güven were confronted by one of Sarper’s former partners, an ex named DeeDee, during the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way tell-all. However, Shekinah revealed there’s more to Sarper and DeeDee’s past than what was shown.
In an Instagram Q&A with fans one day after the tell-all, Shekinah, 43, was asked if she had prior issues with DeeDee.
“Not all all. Sarper had reached out to her about doing therapy for us (that’s why there was a text in her phone from him two years ago saying, ‘Are you in Turkey or LA?)’” she replied on Tuesday, November 19. “He put her in touch with producers then but she wasn’t used for our therapy session, but they brought her on the tell-all way later instead.”
During the tell-all, DeeDee, who met Sarper, 45, on a dating app three years earlier, made several claims about the Turkey native, including that they “stayed in touch” since November 2022. To prove her point, DeeDee showed the cast proof of conversations that she and Sarper had over the years. Despite their continued contact, DeeDee said Sarper, who was famously known for sleeping with almost 3,000 women, had grown since their initial meeting and would “never cheat on Shekinah.”
“You didn’t see the whole scene but she was sitting there telling me over and over that Sarper wouldn’t cheat on me and that he is an honest person,” Shekinah continued in a lengthy response. “I know that already obviously, but what got to me was her (a one night stand) telling me (his girlfriend of three years) what he would or wouldn’t do. I put up with a lot and finally walked off stage.”
In addition, Shekinah called DeeDee’s appearance on the show a “mean girl move” as she was trying to make her “doubt” Sarper by showing “old texts and pics from BEFORE” she met him.
“I didn’t see it till last night,” Shekinah said of the text messages between Sarper and DeeDee. “And no I didn’t care. That was before I met him. We all have a past. Of course, it sucks to have to keep seeing this but I chose this life.”
The mom of one asked DeeDee what her current relationship was with Sarper during the tell-all, and the tension escalated when the personal trainer said that he considered DeeDee to be a “friend.” DeeDee revealed that Sarper had told her about his relationship with Shekinah, and she was open to meeting her. However, Sarper refused, explaining that he declined because Shekinah was “possessive and unpredictable.”
Shekinah clapped back by stating that it was “weird that she thought we could hang out,” adding that the idea was “insane.”
DeeDee’s appearance on the tell-all ended with Shekinah rushing off the stage as she was sick of hearing about Sarper’s past. “I’ve dealt with this past ever since we met and I’m tired of it,” she angrily said. “It was the bottle collection, it was ex’s reaching out, it was his book. Now it’s this person. I’m tired of it.”
