ABC has announced The View is giving fans even more to talk about with a major addition to the daytime chat show — weekend programming.

Called The Weekend View, a thirty-minute episode will debut on ABC News Live on Saturday, January 11 and then stream throughout the weekend, Variety reported.

"It's an opportunity for us to extend the conversation, give viewers more of what they love from the connection they feel for the show," Karin Gilford, senior vice president of Digital Media, ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment Networks, said in a statement.

According to Gilford, viewers can largely expect "the same format" as the regular show but content will reflect its timeslot and take on a lighter weekend vibe.

Show regulars Joy Behar, 82, Sunny Hostin, 56, Sara Haines, 47, Alyssa Farah Griffin, 35, and Ana Navarro, 53, are "still covering all the stories of the week, but in a little bit of a different tone," Gifford revealed, noting topics discussed will shy away from "some of those political arenas" that are addressed Monday through Friday.

The show will feature, for example, more pop culture news, including an extended "Hot Topics" segment.

"We really think Weekend View, in addition to what we've done on podcasting — we've always had a great short form and social presence for the show — is kind of the next frontier," Gilford said of the new programming.

The View Executive Producer Brian Teta noted the talk show, which has been on the air since 1997, continues to be a fan favorite and just had its most-watched linear season in four years. "The View is finding success meeting viewers wherever they get their content, from podcasts to YouTube, and now with new exclusive streaming content for the weekend on ABC News Live," he said.

News of the View Weekend comes on the heels of Rob Schneider revealing he plans to launch a rival talk show for women.

"It'll be funny," he told Fox News on Monday, December 9. "We're going to have funny women on it that are gonna tell jokes and have funny stories — and health and wellness."

"People don't want to have the politics. We're going to have an entertaining show with people for entertaining people all over America," the 61-year-old comedian said. "We're not trying to just bring people who are angry and bitter and reinforcing their political echo chamber."
