Actress Kate Walsh's mother dies two days before 91st birthday

Actress Kate Walsh has revealed some tragic personal news.

The Greys Anatomy star has marked what would have been her mother's birthday, if it weren't for her passing just two days beforehand.

In an Instagram post, the 57-year-old shared an image of her mum and her stepfather smiling at the camera.

"Today would have been my mom's 91st birthday. She almost made it but slipped away peacefully Dec 18," she shared with her 4.2 million followers.

"I am so grateful to her loving husband, Harland, my dear step father, for looking after her and literally holding her hand until the very end," she penned.

"I am blessed with so many memories & so much love. Sweet mama Angela, aka Il Duce, aka the OC (original cougar 🐆) Dec 20, 1933-dec 18 2024 🕊️ ✨🤍" she concluded the emotional post.

Actress Brenda Strong wrote, "Oh, Kate, I am so sorry. It's never enough time with our Mothers. She sounds like a firecracker…Fierce and fun. Sending salve to your heart."

Aussie actress and Walsh's on-screen daughter in Thirteen Reasons Why Katherine Langford simply wrote, "Oh, Kate ❤️".

Walsh was born to her mother Angela and father Joseph Patrick Walsh Sr. in California in 1967. Through her mother she has Italian heritage, and through her father she has Irish heritage.

The actress had been living apart from her mother over the past few years, calling Australia home since 2020, moving to Perth after falling in love with Western Australian farmer Andrew Nixon.

She would often joke around with her mother, posting many photos with her mother throughout the years, including one in 2021 calling her a "jungle cat".
