Adele sobs as she completes two-year Las Vegas residency ahead of ‘big break’ from music

This weekend has been emotional for Adele, who completed her residency in Las Vegas after two years.

The Hello hitmaker, 36, grew incredibly tearful as she bowed out of Caesars Palace for the final time, marking 100 shows in the 4,000-capacity venue.

Addressing the crowd of adoring fans, Adele admitted that she ‘doesn’t know’ when they can expect to see her back on stage.

It comes after the Grammy winner shared plans earlier this year to take a ‘big break’ from music.

‘I’m so sad this residency is over, but I am so glad that it happened; I really, really am,’ she said.

‘I will miss it terribly. I will miss you terribly. I don’t know when I next want to perform again,’ Adele confessed.

Footage captured and shared on social media also showed the singer reflecting on the tumultuous start of her residency, which was due to begin in January 2022.

However, the star cancelled her inaugural show with just 24 hours notice after an outbreak of Covid among production staff delayed her set being completed.

At the time, Adele made the announcement with a very emotional video, sobbing as she apologised profusely but insisted she could not perform because her show ‘wasn’t ready’.

Reminiscing on the drama, she told fans in Vegas this weekend: ‘It got off to such a f****ed rocky way; it was one of the worst years of my life.

‘I was being punched around; it was horrible, and I was told it was career suicide and Vegas would never forgive me for [cancelling] so last minute.

‘But we were talking as a team earlier. That’s when I first started crying. Had I done that show I cancelled, I certainly wouldn’t be standing here tonight doing my 100th show.’

She added passionately: ‘If something doesn’t feel right to you, in anything, don’t f***ing do it; it doesn’t matter what, and I am talking about gut instinct; if something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it.’

The Easy On Me vocalist concluded: ‘I am bursting with pride, and I am so proud of myself and so proud of my team, the band, and my fans.

‘I’m so thankful to Vegas for giving me that second chance.’

Fans have travelled from all over the world to see Adele perform in Vegas, with some having already arrived from other countries on the night she was due to kick things off in 2022.

Many forked out thousands of dollars for tickets, while Adele’s initial 24-night run was due to make her $685,000 (£500,000) per performance, which did not even include merchandise profits.

‘We’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you, but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid,’ Adele told her followers in her video at the time.

‘I’m gutted — I’m sorry it’s so last minute; we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out, and we’ve run out of time.’

Among the audience last night was Adele’s partner, Rich Paul, 43, to whom she confirmed her engagement this August after endless speculation.

Making her way over to him after the speech, Adele embraced him tightly, having made countless declarations of love for him throughout her Vegas residency.

The series of concerts certainly hasn’t been short of memorable moments.

Last month, music legend Celine Dion shared a gorgeous moment with Adele. After spotting her in the audience, Adele rushed over for a hug.

We’ve also heard her vocalising her support for the LGBTQ+ community after a heckler seemingly yelled ‘Pride sucks’ from the crowd, to which Adele hit out: ‘Did you come to my f**king show and just say that Pride sucks? Are you f**king stupid?’

On Halloween, we’ve seen Adele go all out with costumes from Death Becomes Her and Morticia Addams, while she’s also bared her soul with candid conversations about her personal life, giving fans updates on her health conditions and struggles with fame.

Adele is now due to disappear from the spotlight once more, having also completed a residency in Munich, Germany.

‘I will not see you for an incredibly long time, and I will hold you dear in my heart for the whole of my break, and I will fantasise about these shows and any shows that I have done over the last three years,’ she recently professed to an audience.

‘I really, really hold them in the bottom of my heart forever, it has been amazing, I just need a rest and I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself, and I want to live it now, I want to live my new life that I’ve been building.’
