How to unlock every Villager
Merlin
Merlin is one of the first characters you come across in Disney Dreamlight Valley. The powerful Wizard essentially acts as a guide when you first start the game.
So, to unlock him, simply head into Disney Dreamlight Valley and follow his questline which will take you through the tutorial.
Mickey Mouse
The adorable Mickey Mouse, otherwise known as the face of Disney and one of The Sensational Six, is one of the first characters you’ll see in the game.
To find him, simply head inside his house in the Plaza and he’ll be waiting to speak to you.
Minnie Mouse
Minnie Mouse is Mickey Mouse’s girlfriend and sports a bow and polka dot dress. She’s best friends with Daisy Duck and is a lot harder to bring into your Valley.
To unlock Minnie Mouse you’ll need to level up your friendship with Mickey to level eight. Once there you’ll be able to start the ‘Memory Magnification’ quest, which will eventually welcome her into the valley.
Scrooge McDuck
Scrooge McDuck is an extremely rich Disney character best known for his role as Donald Duck’s uncle. He’s part of Duck Tales and is widely regarded as the richest duck in the world.
Similarly to Mickey Mouse, you can unlock Scrooge right at the beginning of Disney Dreamlight Valley. He’ll be standing around his desolate store and will task you with its restoration.
Goofy
Goofy is a beloved member of the Mickey Mouse & Friends family and is one of the first characters you’re likely to meet in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
To unlock Goofy, you’ll need to clear the Night Thorns to get to the Peaceful Meadow biome. Goofy is trapped in there and will be available as a friend shortly after his release.
Donald Duck
As the nephew of Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck is good friends with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy, as well as holding a little rivalry with his uncle. He also has quite the temper and is occasionally found throwing tantrums around the Valley.
To unlock Donald, you’ll need to gain access to the Forest of Valor. Donald is trapped in a mysterious portal so it’s up to you to locate him and bring him back to the Valley.
Daisy Duck
Unlocking Daisy Duck adds in her house and her boutique.
Daisy Duck is the best friend of Minnie Mouse and the girlfriend of Donald Duck. She’s a huge fashionista and runs the Touch of Magic Boutique in Disney Dreamlight Valley, where you can complete competitions and challenges.
Unlocking Daisy Duck is relatively simple. First, you’ll need to unlock Vanellope von Schweetz and place the KL-1200 Valley Visit Station in your Valley. Shortly after, you’ll get a notification to speak to Mickey. He’ll explain that Daisy has written to him, and the quest will begin.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit*
Where Mickey Mouse is the one most people associate with Disney, it’s Oswald who’s perhaps the most classic Disney character. Created in 1927, Oswald is one of the oldest characters created by Walt Disney and is easily of of the most recognizable.
Unlocking Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is no easy feat, and consists of quite a long questline. Players will first need to own the A Rift in Time expansion as he’s only available on Eternity Isle. Once you’ve done that, you’ll find Oswald in the Sunkern Ruins during the Spark of Imagination story quest. Follow all his quests, and you’ll eventually unlock him.
For more details on unlocking Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Remy
As is fitting for Remy, this little rat is responsible for all the game’s cooking mechanics, from coming up with new recipes to recruiting players for his delivery service, granting the highly coveted resource, Wrought Iron.
To unlock Remy, you’ll first need to gain access to the main castle. Once you’re in, head to his Realm door on the bottom set of doors and spend 1,000 Dreamlight to unlock it. Then, enter the Realm and do what Remy says.
WALL-E
WALL-E is the small trash-compacting robot who falls deeply in love with EVE in the futuristic dystopian Disney film from 2008. He doesn’t change much in Disney Dreamlight Valley too, and is still that adorable robot many fell in love with over 15 years ago.
To unlock WALL-E in Disney Dreamlight Valley, players need to head into his Realm, which can be found in the main castle. Head to his door and spend 3,000 Dreamlight to head inside the desolate location. Then, chat with WALL-E and complete his quests to invite him to your Valley.
EVE*
Those who own the A Rift in Time expansion will be able to unlock EVE, otherwise known as the cautious yet kind robot that falls in love with WALL-E.
Players can unlock her by following the main quest of the expansion, The Flying Metal Nuisance. Once you’ve gained her trust and completed her first quest, you’ll be able to reunite her with WALL-E and unlock her for your Valley.
For more details on unlocking Eve in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Moana
This wonderful island-saving explorer with some fantastically catchy songs was a popular addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Moana introduces a much easier way to get hold of fish in the cozy game, rather than having to cast your rod out over and over again, making her a fantastic addition to the game.
Unlocking her is relatively simple. Players will need to head into the Dream Castle and unlock her realm for 3,000 Dreamlight. Once you’re inside, follow her main quest and you’ll quickly be able to add her to your Valley.
Maui
While he may have quite the ego, the Demigod Maui is a pretty entertaining addition to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Introduced in the same Moana Realm as the explorer herself, Maui is relatively simple to unlock.
In the same way as Moana, once you get into their Realm, you’ll need to complete his questline and convince him to come to Disney Dreamlight Valley. Both Moana and Maui’s quests can be done almost at the same time, so you should be able to grab them with ease.
Ursula
Disney Dreamlight Valley isn’t without its villains, and Ursula is easily one of the more manipulative, aside from Mother Gothel that is. The Little Mermaid antagonist is a Disney classic, and builds her way to power through manipulative deals and spells, so it’s worth watching out when you complete her quests.
To unlock Ursula in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to unlock the Dazzle Beach biome. Once you do, you’ll find a cave on the eastern side of the biome. Head inside and speak to the sea witch. After this, simply complete her quests and she’ll be unlocked.
Ariel
Similarly to Ursula, Ariel can be unlocked by gaining access to Dazzle Beach. The star of The Little Mermaid will begin as a mermaid, but can be given legs once you reach a high enough level with Prince Eric.
To unlock Ariel, gain access to Dazzle Beach and look around until you find a piece of wreckage on the ground. Once you spot the shiny wreckage, pick it up, head to Goofy, and begin the quest to unlock this beloved character.
Prince Eric
Acting as the final entry from The Little Mermaid films, Prince Eric can be a little tricky to get hold of. Otherwise known as the love interest of Ariel and the beloved seafaring prince who finally gets the courage to ‘kiss the girl’.
Disney Dreamlight Valley players will have to reach Friendship level 10 with Ariel and Ursula before unlocking Prince Eric. Once you reach level 10 with them both, you’ll be able to complete a quest with Ursula, where you must make some rather questionable deals with the sea witch to get Eric back.
Anna
This excitable princess comes from the Frozen movies, and retains her thrilling charm and love for everything new in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Anna comes with an impressive roster of the Frozen cast, and is among one of the easiest to unlock.
To unlock Anna in Disney Dreamlight Valley, players need to head into the Dream Castle and open the Frozen Realm for 4,000 Dreamlight. Once inside, all you need to do is find Anna and follow through her quest to bring her to the Valley and reunite her with Kristoff.
Elsa
It makes sense that unlocking Anna will also let you unlock Elsa shortly after. The two Frozen siblings were always joined at the hip in the films – even if things got a little icy partway through the first movie. Luckily, Elsa isn’t too tough to bring into the Valley.
All you need to do to unlock Elsa is follow through the Anna quest, which is found in the Frozen Realm. Once you’ve done this, look out for the Icy Invitation quest for Anna, which will let you introduce Elsa shortly after.
Kristoff
Kristoff is found in the Forest of Valor.
Kristoff is likely to be the first Frozen character you meet in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Ironically, this forest-loving goof is found in the Forest of Valor, which just makes sense given his upbringing in the Frozen films.
To unlock Kristoff, you’ll need to access the Forest of Valor biome, which is just on the right of the Plaza. Once you open the region, you’ll find Kristoff standing near a portal. Complete his quest and you’ll unlock him. You’ll also be well on your way to bringing in Donald Duck too.
Olaf
Meeting Olaf in Disney Dreamlight Valley isn’t too much of a challenge, as you only need to head into the Frosted Heights (understandably given he’s a snowman) and enter the secret cavern found at the north of the biome.
In true Olaf form, there’s plenty of chatter, mischief, and a few lost arms, noses, and buttons. Complete his quests and he’ll leave the cave and join the Valley.
Mother Gothel
Disney Dreamlight Valley wouldn’t be what it is today without a few good (or bad) villains. Mother Gothel is one such character. She comes from the Tangled universe, featuring Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder. Mother Gothel was the villain who kidnapped and gaslighted Rapunzel, all to gain everlasting youth.
To unlock Mother Gother in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to enter the Glade of Trust biome, located on the left of Peaceful Meadow on the map. Once you head inside you’ll see a large tree in the middle of the biome. Mother Gothel is trapped inside.
Scar
Scar’s home can be found in the Sunlit Plateau.
Known as the primary villain of The Lion King, this power-hungry kitty is filled with funny quips, miserable complaints, and of course, the constant desire to take your spot as the leader of Disney Dreamlight Valley.
You can unlock Scar in DDV by completing The Curse, which is the Mother Gothel quest in which you fix the pillars of Friendship, Courage, Power, and Trust. Once you’ve done that, head to the Sunlit Plateau and enter the giant elephant skull, Scar will be waiting inside.
Simba
As the polar opposite to Scar, Simba is the protagonist of The Lion King, and is the lover of Nala, best friend of Timone and Pumbaa, and the son of Mufasa. This jolly lion is always looking to learn and improve himself, as well as helping everyone feel at home in the Valley.
Players can unlock Simba by heading into The Lion King Realm in the Dream Castle. The realm is located on the second floor and costs 10,000 Dreamlight to unlock. Once you’re there, simply follow the quest line and invite him to the Valley
For more details on unlocking Simba in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Nala
Much like Elsa and Anna, Nala is also unlockable in The Lion King Realm. In fact, before unlocking Simba, you actually need to complete Nala’s initial quest, meaning you’ll likely grab them both around the same time.
Nala is best known for being Simba’s romantic partner in The Lion King. She’s brave, determined, and is always trying to provide for the Valley.
For more details on unlocking Nala in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Buzz Lightyear
Every Valley needs a persistent Space Ranger to keep it safe, and Buzz is the toy for the job. This beloved Toy Story character has some fantastic, if not tricky quests to complete and is a joy to have in the game.
In a similar way to the likes of Simba, Elsa, and Moana, players need to unlock the Toy Story Realm in the second level of the Dream Castle. You can unlock it for just 7,000 Dreamlight. Once inside, follow the respective quests and you can add Buzz to your Valley.
Woody
Often considered the protagonist of Toy Story, Woody is brave, kind, and always willing to put himself at risk to help his friends, both in the Valley and throughout the films.
To unlock Woody in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll need to once again head into the Toy Story Realm and complete the quest, ‘A Secret Mission in Uncharted Space.’ Once you’ve taken part, you can head in and complete all the quests required to unlock Woody.
Stitch
The mischievous extraterrestrial life-form, Experiment 626, otherwise known as Stitch is a favorite among the DDV community. He’s extremely funny, often pulling pranks, and has an absolutely adorable home to boot.
If you want to unlock him, head over to Dazzle Beach and look for a slimy sock on the ground. This will start the quest required to unlock Stitch, but that quest will take a few days to complete, so it’s by no means a quick process.
For more details on unlocking Stitch in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Mirabel
The marvelous Mirabel comes from the popular film, Encanto, where the Madrigal family showcase their various gifts, to which poor Mirabel seemingly has none. However, through love, respect, and perseverance, she reunites her family and realigns their goals for the better.
To add Mirabel (and Casita) to your Valley, you’ll need to find a mysterious golden doorknob within the valley. The location is different for all players, but it’s usually found in the Peaceful Meadow. Once you find that, you can place Mini-Casita and unlock Mirabel.
For more details on unlocking Mirabel in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
The Fairy Godmother
Often seen as one of the most classic Disney characters in Dreamlight Valley, The Fairy Godmother is a staple for both the franchise and the cozy game itself. She may be forgetful, but this fantastic fairy is kind, loving, and caring above all else.
To unlock The Fairy Godmother, you’ll need to unlock the Forgotten Lands, which costs 15,000 Dreamlight. Once inside, you’ll find a pumpkin house. Inside is the character you’re looking for.
Vanellope von Schweetz
Racing her way into Disney Dreamlight Valley is Vanellope von Schweetz, marking the first Wreck-it-Ralph character to arrive in the game. This glitchy racing princess brought tons of candy related trees, paths, furniture, and clothing to DDV, and remains one of the most popular additions.
To unlock Venellope von Schweets, you’ll need to speak to Scrooge McDuck and start The Haunting of Dreamlight Valley quest. If you’re just starting out in the game, it might not appear instantly, so patience is key here.
Belle
Hailing from Beauty and the Beast, and technically 18th-century France, Belle is the beauty of her town, and the unrequited love interest of the narcissistic brute Gaston. She quickly falls in love with Beast, after being trapped in his tower.
Belle is pretty easy to unlock in Disney Dreamlight Valley as she’s found in the Beauty and the Beast Realm. Simply head to the door displaying the rose and pay 12,500 Dreamlight to enter. Once inside, find Belle and complete her quest line.
For more details on unlocking Belle in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Beast
Along with the introduction of Belle, Disney Dreamlight Valley players also got to invite Beast to their Valleys. This shy and temperamental character is constantly seeking the affection of Belle and can be a little frustrating to some players.
Unlocking him is much the same as Belle. Head to the Beauty and the Beast Realm, unlock it, and complete the quests hidden inside. Shortly after, both will join your Valley.
For more details on unlocking Belle in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Gaston*
Unlike the likes of Belle and Beast, players can’t unlock Gaston through the Realm. Instead, this is an exclusive for those owning the Eternity Isle DLC. Nevertheless, the rather adorable (if not a bit full of himself) Gaston is available to add to your Valley if you so choose.
To unlock Gaston, you’ll need to head over to Eternity Isle and head to the Glittering Dunes. During that, ‘The Wanderer of the Dunes’ quest should begin, kickstarting the adventure you need to meet Gaston. If it doesn’t start, then continue the main quest until it does.
For more details on unlocking Gaston in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Jack Skellington
The first, and currently the only addition from The Nightmare Before Christmas is Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King. This beloved character undeniably brings the Forgotten Lands to life, and lets it be the Halloween-style region many have always dreamed of.
As many will expect, to unlock Jack Skellington, players will first need to unlock the Forgotten Lands. Once you’ve done so, head inside and look for the quest “Something Comes A’Knocking.” Complete this, and you’ll unlock Jack. Now we just wait for Sally.
For more details on unlocking Jack Skellington in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Rapunzel*
Known for the classic Rapunzel storyline, or her part as the protagonist in Tangled, Rapunzel is the strong, relatively naive, and extremely funny princess, who only finds out about her lineage later on in the film.
Similarly to Gaston, she’s unlockable by players owning the Eternity Isle expansion. You’ll be able to meet her as you progress through the main quest – but she can be found in the Wild Tangle.
For more details on unlocking Rapunzel in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Mike Wazowski
While he may be strategically cut out of every photo he stars in, Monsters, Inc’s Mike Wazowski doesn’t go unnoticed in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This budding comedian is constantly bringing a smile to the other characters and is a fantastic addition to the game.
To unlock Mike, you’ll need to head into the Monsters, Inc. Realm, which costs 15,000 Dreamlight to open. Once you do, you’ll need to complete both Mike and Sulley’s quests and he’ll make his way into the Valley.
For more details on unlocking Mike Wazowski in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
Sulley
As the counterpart to Mike Wazowski, Sulley is the loveable CEO of Monsters, Inc and the friend of the adorable Boo in the movies. He may have had a pretty great upbringing as a scarer, but those days are over, with him focusing more on laughter nowadays.
In the same way as Mike, players can unlock Sulley in Disney Dreamlight Valley by entering the Monsters, Inc. realm for 15,000 Dreamlight. When inside, you can take part in the various quests given by both characters. Once they’re complete, the two will join you.

Mushu
Mushu was added to the game on June 26, 2024, alongside Mulan which marked a focus on the Mulan film throughout the update and Star Path. Mushu is the sassy dragon counterpart to Mulan and is always there to crack a joke, or some key wisdom.
Players can unlock Mushu by heading into the Mulan Realm, which costs 15,000 Dreamlight to open. When inside, there a five quests to complete, and you’ll unlock Mushu. Be warned, however, these will take a fair amount of time so patience is key.

Mulan
The determined soldier Mulan is always looking to improve herself, and it’s no different in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Especially considering the first time you meet her is in her Realm, which doubles as a training ground.
Unlocking her is much like Mushu, and players will need to spend 15,000 Dreamlight to enter the Mulan Realm. When inside, head over to the two characters and work through their quests. She’ll soon be joining your Valley.

Jafar*
Aladdin’s Jafar is the grand vizier of Agrabah and advisor to the Sultan. He’s a talented but evil sorcerer whose main goal is to take the Genie’s power so he can rule the kingdom.
The villainous Jafar served as the main antagonist of the A Rift in Time expansion, but players can add him to their Valleys following the Dapper Delights update. To unlock Jafar, you’ll need to complete all three parts of a Rift in Time’s story. Then, pick up one of the strange 2D objects to start The Lesser Evil quest.
For more details on unlocking Jafar in Disney Dreamlight Valley, check out our guide.
The Forgotten
The Forgotten serves as the primary antagonist of Disney Dreamlight Valley’s main storyline. Without showcasing too many spoilers, they’re deeply hurting, and progressing through the main quests will reveal just why they’re suffering, and how you can help them heal.
To unlock The Forgotten you’ll need to complete the main story. This is best done by simply enjoying the game and grabbing any quests from Merlin or The Fairy Godmother when you see them. In time, The Forgotten will join your Valley.
Timon and Pumbaa
You can only unlock Timon and Pumbaa once you’ve cleared all of Simba and Nala’s friendship quests – up to level 10. Once that’s out of the way, Simba will reach out with the Finding Old Friends, which essentially kickstarts this duo’s questing journey inside The Lion King realm. Complete their requests until they agree to join the Valley.
Confirmed upcoming characters
As shown in the 29th of October Showcase, Sally will be joining the Valley on December 4. This is an update coming to owners of the base game.
If you purchase The Storybook Vale expansion, you’ll meet Flynn, Merida, Maleficent, and Hades on November 20.
Other than that, we’ve seen a fair few teased characters from trailers and promotional images. We can assume more characters will be arriving in the future. Here are all of the characters that have appeared in trailers or promotional images and will presumably be added to Disney Dreamlight Valley in the future.
Ralph has been seen in previous trailers for updates, as well as announcements, so it’s only natural to assume he’ll be joining the game eventually. The same goes for Cinderella as she’s been spotted in various promotional images and videos.
That’s all you need to know about the characters of Disney Dreamlight Valley. While working to unlock them all, be sure to check out a full recipes list, our guides on gems and fish, or even the current Star Path.
