Amanda Holden issues fresh update on co-star Jamie Theakston's cancer ordeal after concerns

Heart Radio star Amanda Holden has issued an update about Jamie Theakston's progress, as he continues to recover away from the show.

Jamie, 53, announced in September that he had been diagnosed with stage one laryngeal cancer and had the cancerous lesion removed.

Previously updating fans, he shared: "The prognosis is very positive and I'm hoping to be back with you in October."

Jamie however is yet to return to his presenting duties over two months later, sparking concerns amongst fans.

Ensuring all is good with their co-star, Amanda and Jamie's stand-in host JK issued an update during Wednesday's show.

JK shared: "There's a few more texts coming in about Jamie, he's fine, just so you know, he's absolutely fine."

Echoing his words, Amanda added: "Jamie is absolutely fine, he just needs to work on his voice because it's affected his throat."

She went on to say that they had all seen him in person, as he comes into the studio every week.

"He's listening to us right now gargling, going la la la," JK chimed in, to which Amanda added, joking: "Making notes."

The presenter decided to get his throat checked out after his co-stars and listeners grew concerned about his voice.

"Doctors found a lesion on my vocal chords which I've had removed this weekend," he said in a statement.

"Thanks for all the kind messages, should be back on my feet soon, in the meantime... [zipper-mouth emoji]. "

In a follow-up message, he announced he was still on voice rest for the foreseeable and went on to praise his supportive work family.

"Be thankful for this day and when I see you next, I'll have a great story to tell," he signed off.

Jamie has since been inundated with well wishes from both Heart Radio listeners and fans on social media.

On his Instagram page, one wrote: "Sending love and best wishes Jamie and a speedy recovery."

"Sending positivity and hope to hear him back soon on the breakfast show, rest up Jamie xx," a second added.

"All the best for Jamie," a third typed.
