The boom of quick commerce is taking over the Indian market. What started with Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart has now been joined by Zepto and others as well. Now, reports suggest that Amazon is also planning to step into the market with the same. A report published by The Economic Times suggested that Amazon India is prepping up to announce its new quick commerce delivery service. The platform has been codenamed Tez.
Amazon’s quick commerce platform details
Until now, the real name of the app has not been revealed yet and what we have as only the codename Tez. It is being said that the platform will go live by late December 2024 or Early 2025. Amazon is reportedly hiring new employees for its quick commerce project. Moreover, Amazon will also be patterning with other logistics providers to accomplish the orders for all the users.
The reason behind this could be the growing market of quick markets. Latest reports regarding the same suggest that the sector recorded gross sales of $5.5-6 billion which is around Rs 49,800 crore by November 2024. Talking about the official details, Amazon India has not confirmed anything until now. Reports have further mentioned that the discussion for Amazon Tez will take place at Amazon’s annual Sambhav event.

And this is not going to happen for the first time. Flipkart pretty recently stepped in the market with the launch of Flipkart Minutes that is a straight competitor to other quick commerce apps. Nonetheless, the market is being dominated by the dedicated quick commerce apps like Swiggy Instamart, Zepto, and more.
