When country music star Lauren Alaina surprised fans with an early release of her new single on January 22, 2025, she tucked an unexpected bundle of joy inside the music video for “Those Kind of Women.” At the end of the video, the 2011 “American Idol” runner-up can be seen cradling her own baby bump as her mom stands nearby, smiling.

Alaina, who married Nashville businessman Cam Arnold in February 2024, ended the music video with one sentence on the screen: “This video is dedicated to my Momma and our sweet Baby Arnold coming summer 2025.” Fans immediately flooded social media with excitement over Alaina’s baby news.

Lauren Alaina Says She & Her New Husband Didn’t Plan to Get Pregnant Until Late 2025

Shortly after the music video’s release, People published an exclusive interview with Alaina, 30, about her first pregnancy.

She told the outlet, “(I didn’t know) I can love something that I haven’t even really held yet. I feel the baby inside me, and it’s kicking me and doing all of the things. It’s like I was the Grinch or something, and my heart grew.”

The “Thicc as Thieves” singer, who was runner-up on “Idol” to her friend and fellow country star Scotty McCreery, admitted to People that she and Arnold, who’s a Georgia native like her, had not planned to try getting pregnant until late 2025, so Baby Arnold took them by surprise. But, Alaina said the news has brought them even closer.

“Walking through this experience with him has been unbelievable,” she said. “I’m looking forward to watching my husband be a dad. He is so obsessed with our animals; he’s a big nurturer in general. In fact, when I was getting ready to marry him, that was something that I knew would be one of the best things about being his wife, was being able to parent with him.”

Alaina also told the outlet that the joy of expecting a baby has helped with the grief over her dad’s sudden death at 52 in July.

She told the magazine, “I do think that my dad passed away and got a stair up in heaven and was like, ‘Hey, we got to work something out down there to send the family something good.’ And it has been such an unexpected blessing. We obviously still talk about and are dealing with the grief of my dad, but this baby has healed a lot of that for us … like it’s a little piece of my dad that will live on.”
