The American Music Awards is officially set to return on Memorial Day.

The music awards show, which last aired on ABC in 2022, will air live from Las Vegas on Monday, May 26 on CBS and Paramount+ in the U.S.

The AMAs took 2023 off and were originally set to return in the fall of 2024, but that slot switched to a 50th anniversary special, which aired on CBS in October.

The 51st AMAs, from Dick Clark Productions, is the “world’s largest fan-voted award show,” according to DCP and will celebrate this year’s best in music, and, due to its Memorial Day placement, pay tribute to U.S. veterans.

The show will air live coast-to-coast at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The move marks the first time the AMAs has aired in May, and it’ll take place just months after the 2025 Grammys, which also aired on CBS.

The AMAs’ 50th anniversary special averaged more than 6 million viewers for its Oct. 6 broadcast, a 54 percent increase over the 2022 AMAs on ABC and largest year-over-year growth of a music special or award show on TV in 2024.

DCP also said that the special was the most-streamed AMAs in the show’s history, racking up 65 million views across social media platforms in the week since it aired.

The 2022 AMAs, which aired on Nov. 20 of that year, saw Taylor Swift sweep, winning all six awards for which she was nominated including the top prize of artist of the year, and extend her record as the most-awarded artist in AMAs history.

DCP and The Hollywood Reporter are both owned by Penske Media Corp.
