The Drapers editorial team was highly impressed by the quality and creativity of this year's Christmas windows competition entries, which came from all corners of the UK and Ireland - from East Suffolk to County Donegal - making the competition very hard to judge.
Golden Boots in Maidstone, Kent, which celebrates its 235th anniversary next year, stole the hearts of the Drapers team with Western-inspired rocking horse seasonal display for its children's footwear department.
The handmade white rocking horse was created in partnership with the Stevenson Brothers, which has manufactured rocking horses in Kent since 1982, and complimented Golden Boots' window merchandising of children's Wellington boots and trainers.
This year's runner-up title of highly commended goes to womenswear boutique Itsy Bitsy, based in Chapel-en-le-Frith in the Peak District.
Itsy Bitsy submitted postcard-like images of its window displays, featuring a vintage bicycle and animal figurines, framed by bauble-filled Christmas wreaths.
Navigating the independent retail landscape of 2024 has been "like riding a bike, a journey with both uphill climbs and joyful coasts, a mix of resilience and gratitude for all who support us", the Itsy Bitsy team told Drapers.
Drapers congratulates the winner and highly commended, as well as more than 20 independents that submitted their beautiful Christmas windows - which can be viewed here - and wishes all independent retails a Merry Christmas.
