Andrea Frieder has been tapped as Wondery’s head of ad revenue, moving over to the podcasting studio from Amazon Ads.

At Wondery, which is owned by Amazon, Frieder will lead the company’s podcast advertising sales, including global podcast ad sales and programmatic expansion, along with video, social, and brand sponsorships and expansion into agency holding companies and international markets. She will report directly to Angie More, Wondery’s head of advertising.

At Amazon Ads, Frieder served as head of theatrical, TV/streaming and global entertainment enterprise. She joined Amazon in 2019 to lead the company’s theatrical sales business in large customer sales and then branched out to include the TV/Streaming sales team.

Before working at Amazon, Frieder was a founding member of Spotify’s West Coast office, where she built out the company’s regional sales operations.

The company is positioning the hire as a deepening of the relationship between Amazon and Wondery, which the company acquired in 2020. Wondery is home to podcasts including How I Built This, Business Wars, Scamfluencers and the newly acquired New Heights, hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce and Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert

“Podcast audiences are continuing to grow globally and I think Wondery is uniquely positioned to capitalize on that growth, bringing together great advertising options for brands with superior and captivating content,” Frieder said. “I look forward to collaborating with such a diverse array of original, partner, and global podcasts, as well as Wondery’s expanding talent roster and franchises.”

“Andi’s expertise and vision will allow us to create unparalleled advertising solutions that connect brands with our expanding global audience,” More said. “Her leadership in advertising will strengthen our sales capabilities, and also deepen our synergy with Amazon allowing for new avenues for collaboration and innovation with our colleagues at Amazon Ads.”
