In many different ways, it’s a weird time to be alive. On this same note, many viewers are growing weary over the rebooted version of Real Housewives of New York. Many fans prefer the OG women, while others remain obsessed with the new. Wherever you might land, the rebooted version is here to stay, and this proclamation is coming straight from Andy Cohen himself, aka the daddy of all things Bravo.
The RHONY reboot works, and this new cast is solid, suggests Andy Cohen
In an interview with Deadline, Andy praised the rebooted cast of RHONY. He also noted that the OG ladies have mostly moved on. Therefore, the only place to go from here is up. And on this skyward climb, the rebooted cast will be present.
Andy believes in these new faces, stressing, “I think there are a lot of interesting personal stories with the women in the new New York.” In contrast, Andy does admit that “the group dynamic is a little bit of a challenge this season. I think the rap on the group in Season one was, ‘Oh, there’s not a lot of history there,’” he explained. However, “The interesting thing about them this season is they hang out a lot, and they are a cohesive group,” Andy further noted.
Overall, Andy has faith in the new cast. He finds these ladies “aspirational” and “fun to watch.” Andy also loves their fashions and how they grant us a “window” into the diverse lifestyles and boroughs within New York City.
As a former New Yorker, I also appreciate seeing the varying sectors of Manhattan. In contrast, the OG ladies all lived, laughed, and verbally lunged at each other in one area. So, I agree with Andy’s take, and I think that, with time, this new cast is going to thrive.
But please. No more pranks.
Season 15 of Real Housewives of New York airs every Tuesday at 9/8c on Bravo. Meanwhile, the OG seasons are streaming on Peacock.
