Angelina Jolie makes rare comment on motherhood — and reveals which child is the most private

Angelina Jolie’s favorite role is mom.

In her new movie, “Maria,” the Oscar winner, 49, plays Maria Callas, one of the most influential opera singers of the 20th century.

When asked during an interview with Good Morning America if there is “anything in [her] life that compares to [Maria’s] love for singing,” Jolie told Michael Strahan it would be “motherhood.”

“It’s my happiness,” she said. “You can take everything else away from me. Nothing else matters.”

Jolie is the mother of six children: Maddox, 23, Pax, nearly 21, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. She shares all six of her kids with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

Her eldest two sons worked with her behind the scenes on “Maria,” which she said was an “amazing” experience. She also recently collaborated with Vivienne on “The Outsiders” Broadway show.

However, Jolie insisted that “none” of her children “want to be in front of the camera” after being thrust into the spotlight as kids due to the “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” co-stars’ high-profile romance.

“They are quite private,” she said, singling out daughter Shiloh as “extremely private.”

“They weren’t born with privacy,” she explained. “So I hope they can have that as they get older.”

Although Jolie rarely gives insight into her family life, her children have slowly started to get the bug for showbusiness.

Over the weekend, the “Maleficent” star brought her youngest son as her plus-one to the 2024 Governors Awards, marking his first red carpet appearance in three years.

Despite rarely stepping out for public events, Knox looked comfortable as he walked the carpet arm-in-arm with his mom.

The teen kept it classic in an all-black tuxedo with a white button-up while Jolie wore a vintage gold and cream mohair gown.

A source told Page Six it was Knox’s idea to support his mom at the swanky event.

“Angelina felt so proud having Knox by her side,” the insider explained. “He typically prefers to stay out of the spotlight and Angelina respects that decision, but he asked if he could join her, and of course she was thrilled that he wanted to be there.”

Although the mother-son duo “had a really memorable evening together,” we’re told Pitt believes there was an anterior motive.

The “Fight Club” star is convinced his ex stepped out with their son “to push his buttons,” a source told us Wednesday.

The insider said Pitt “finds it a bit coincidental” that the public appearance came just days after a judge decided the battle for their French winery Château Miraval will head to trial.

“So he really questions her motive for bringing Knox,” the source shared.

The actor has been estranged from his kids since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.

Following their bitter split, most of their children have tried to distance themselves from the “Bullet Train” star. Several of the pair’s adult children have dropped their famous father’s last name in recent years, using just their mother’s surname in school and at work.

Shiloh was the latest to join her siblings, legally filing to remove “Pitt” from her last name right after her 18th birthday in August.

We’re told Pitt is “hurt” by their choices and “feels like Angelina has turned his kids against him.”
