Apple is Reportedly Working on a ‘AI Wall Tablet’: Here’s What We Know So Far

Apple is gearing up to match with competitive rivals in smart home segment with planning to launch a ‘Smart Home Display.’ As per Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant is coming up with a wall mounted display that will be able to control your home appliances. In addition, the display will also be able to handle video conferencing and use AI in order to navigate apps.

The upcoming product is witnessed as a code name J490, which could be announced in early March 2025. The upcoming AI Tablet will be based on Apple’s new AI platform, Apple Intelligence. The display will feature six-inch in size with thick edges, a built-in camera, a rechargeable battery, and speakers. As per Gurman, the Apple is also planning to have Siri embedded in the display system. We can also expect voice control feature supported by Apple Intelligence in the smart home display.

The reports further reveals that Apple’s CEO Tim Cook has made it clear that the company should have all the focus on the upcoming display in terms of designing and engineering. The company has been planning since three years and will be ready to unveil its much-anticipated display next year.

In terms of designing, the device will have roughly 6-inch screen and more or less will portray a square iPad, which is about the size of two iPhones. Apple is also offering camera at the top front of the smart display as well as a rechargeable battery. The product will also have internal speakers. Apple will launch it in silver and black color options.

Talking about the confluence, the display will support touch interface that gives the feel of Apple’s Watch OS. Additionally, it also depicts iPhone’s recently launched StandBy Mode. The hardware of the display is designed based on App Intents, a system which expresses your app’s action and data in a way that enables deep integration with system capabilities.

If the rumors to be believe, the display will offer a centralized way in order to control smart lights, security cameras, thermostats, and more. Users will be able to hang the smart display on wall or make it sit on a countertop using a stand. You can also add extra speakers to it.
