Rumors are rampant that Michelle and Barack Obama, who have been married for over three decades, are headed for a divorce. Speculation intensified after Michelle skipped two recent high-profile events: the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The wives of former presidents usually attend such events, and Michelle’s office did not provide any specific reason for her absence. On January 18, Barack was also flying solo at an inauguration celebration at Osteria Mozza. He did, however, gush about his wife when she turned 61 on January 17, writing on Instagram, “You fill every room with warmth, wisdom, humor, and grace – and you look good doing it. I’m so lucky to be able to take on life’s adventures with you. Love you!”
