Ashley Storrie has paid a birthday tribute to her mum Janey Godley who would have celebrated her 64th birthday this week.

The Scots comedian passed away at the Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow on November 2 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer and since, Ashley has been sharing her journey online on coping with grief.

Ashley has opened up to her followers on how she is coping without her beloved mum, and that she sometimes pretends she's on holiday.

Ashley said: "Oh ma. It’s your birthday and you’re not here. I pretend you’re in New Zealand, doing the comedy festival like when I was 16 and you wouldn’t let me skip school to come with you. Honey is fine. People keep asking about the dog and SHE’S FINE! I imagine if you came back that would be your first question “how’s my wee dug?!?”.

"I miss you and am still furious about you dying. I find myself silently fuming at everyone, *they* miss you? *they* aren’t coping?!! You were my f*cking mum not theirs. *deep breath* One day I’m gonna grieve properly.

"I’m going to say goodbye to you. It’s hard when everyone’s watching. Till then… I’m going to pretend a bit longer… have fun in Auckland mum, get the Broccoli at Tanukis, we miss you."

And many fans and friends took to the comments of the post to send Ashley love.

Barbie star Sharon Rooney posted a heart emoji on the post.

Another person wrote: "Absolutely agree, she was your Mum, we were all lucky to see a small, incredibly funny part of her. Be kind to yourself x."

While one said: "Thinking of you Ashley and your amazing Mum on her birthday. These significant days are so hard when you lose someone. I bet she is making them roar with laughter in NZ."

Another added: "Bless your broken heart Ashley.. your ma is right there beside you feeling miserable too cos she can't hug you . But you can sing happy birthday to her and she will smile . I promise."

And one said: "She’ll be having a ball in Auckland, you remember that! I sometimes think, they’re just somewhere else! Some days are harder than others, take care Ashley!"

Back in November, crowds lined the street as the late comic's loved ones arrived at St Mary's Cathedral, Great Western Road.

Fans turned out wearing bright clothes to honour the comedian, who requested that people should wear colours, and not traditional black funeral attire.

Former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Still Game's Gavin Mitchell, River City's Tom Urie and comic Susie McCabe were amongst those in attendance to pay tribute to the beloved comic.

Ashley gave a moving eulogy in which she spoke beautifully about her mum's incredible life and received a standing ovation at the end.

"Hiya, my ma asked that I headline her funeral, 'cause she was like that, so here I am. I can't do any of her jokes 'cause 'house of God' and that.

"My mum is very grateful to all of you who came out yesterday to Edinburgh and lined the Royal Mile and lifted your voices in song and the people who have come today to remember her in the best way possible. My mam was very much the daughter ofGlasgow, she loved her city dearly, it was her favourite place in the whole wide world.

"The emblem of Glasgow is the tree that never grew and the bell that never rang and the bird that never flew and the fish that never swam, and I think she took that as a challenge - it felt like the world was telling her to be quiet be small don't get big so she did the opposite."

After telling stories of her memories of Janey, Ashley concluded: "She was a comedian, that was her thing first and foremost, she tried acting, she hated it, she was a terrible singer, she couldny knit, she tried, there's pictures of Liam Neeson with a hideous scarf to prove it.

"But what she was, was a comedian so for one last time as I sit back down can you please put your hands together for my ma, Janey Godley."
