Barack Obama Weighs In On Drake, J. Cole, And Kendrick Lamar “Big 3” Conversation

Former president Barack Obama has issued his opinion on the “Big 3” debate between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, and his stance is not a shocker at all. During an interview with DeepCut, the ever-opinionated politician sat down with Victor Fontanez, aka VicBlends, a celebrity barber, for the latest stop on Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign.

While there, Barack was asked about the Drake-Kendrick Lamar feud that took over most of 2024 and how he feels about the so-called “Big 3,” with the barber asking, “Now that the smoke has settled a little bit, do you think Kendrick Lamar has taken the No. 1 spot?”

Obama began with a disclaimer that Kung-Fu Kenny was his “friend” who had performed at the White House before answering.

“I’m pretty confident in saying not many presidents were familiar with Hip-Hop before I was president. I do think that Kendrick has a unique status right now, not just because of this summer… He’s not just gifted, he’s serious about the message… he digs deep into himself. He digs deep… [Fatherhood] are questions that he’s talking about. He’s got a couple of young kids, and he’s taking that very seriously,” he said.

VicBlendz interjected and offered some love to “the greatest of all time” in J. Cole, disclaiming that he’s from his Fayetteville, N.C., hometown. Obama also praised Cole, revealing that he spoke with him “last week.”

While he didn’t directly refute Vic’s claim that Cole is the “greatest,” Obama insisted that Jermaine is most definitely “very high on the list.” The former president offered an age-old comparison to the mix to explain better where he stands on the topic of the best rapper of all-time.

“This is a lot like the MJ (Michael Jordan) vs. LeBron conversation,” Obama detailed as he offered love and his all-time best selection to JAY-Z. “[Cole] is from your hometown, I respect you rolling with him. I’ve had J at the White House. He’s outstanding. J. Cole is outstanding.”

As for Drake, Barack Obama didn’t even mention the self-proclaimed “6-God.”
