Charlie Stayt sparked concerns for his health on BBC Breakfast.

The seasoned broadcaster was back hosting the morning show alongside Naga Munchetty on Thursday (October 24). They were joined by comedian and author Jenny Eclair, who came to plug her new book and chat about her career.

But Eclair seemed a little worried about Charlie's wellbeing and decided to bring it up during the conversation. As she rounded off their chat, she quipped: "It's really lovely to see you both! I hope you get better because I can see you're a bit peaky."

Despite having coughed through the programme, Charlie assured her he was as "fit as a fiddle," responding: "I'm absolutely fine!". But Jenny, feeling playful, wasn't convinced and decided to ask Naga's opinion, telling her: "He's peaky isn't he?".

Charlie was forced to insist he was "absolutely fine" after coughing on BBC Breakfast on Thursday (October 24)

Charlie, trying to laugh it off while gesturing around himself, said: "I'm just sorry you had to witness the mess!". Jenny herself felt a little redfaced during the segment as she realised she'd worn the same scarf on the show that she had donned in a promo snapshot displayed on-screen.

Charlie, mocking her, said: "If you come and see us in two years or five years time, wear the same thing again! " He even cheekily recommended that she hand over her beloved scarf to the BBC wardrobe department.

Comedian Jenny pointed out that Charlie looked "peaky"

Jenny replied: "Can you imagine? I'm so embarrassed, not! " Fans at home also noticed this and took to social media to defend the comedian. One fan commented: "Jenny. Jenny! You were fab on morning TV just now. No need to apologise for your gorgeous, glowing orange scarf.

"Totally acceptable and often essential to regularly wear a comfy and flattering, reliable neckerchief! I am sure all OWLs would agree. Enhances your artiness!" This comes after viewers expressed their annoyance with Charlie for what seemed like a cheeky dig at weather reporter Carol Kirkwood earlier this month, reports the Express.

Fans were not happy with how Charlie spoke to Carol Kirkwood

After pointing out some technical issues, Charlie asked: "Are you going to fix this Carol? This has been going on for many hours now. Is anything actually happening? Are you going to fix it?".

Carol replied: "Of course Charlie! Of course, we are. It is a big problem, it's not just one that can be sorted like that," while snapping her fingers. However, viewers didn't appreciate Charlie's attitude, with many calling for him to apologise.

One viewer was particularly irate, stating: "Absolutely disgraceful by Charlie on BBC Breakfast. There's a glitch on the app showing incorrect wind speeds. He shouted at Carol and demanded to know when it would be fixed. Embarrassing and petulant. He owes her an apology."
