Strictly Come Dancing's Katya Jones has been sharing some cheeky backstage "shenanigans" on her Instagram, just days after the announcement of Wynne Evans' departure from the tour.

The Welsh opera sensation was paired with the professional dancer in the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing. The dynamic duo dazzled their way to the iconic Blackpool ballroom but faced elimination during that very same week.

Their journey on the BBC hit show wasn't without its hiccups, as they encountered a few bumps along the way due to some viewers' complaints. This led to an incident where Katya was seen moving Wynne's hand away from her waist and declining a high five, sparking speculation among fans.

Addressing the issue head-on, Katya clarified: "it couldn't be further away from the truth so I have to make this absolutely clear, that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night, it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke, yes, was it a bad joke, yes".

Despite the recent news, both Katya and Wynne were scheduled to perform on Tuesday January 28 at Liverpool's leg of the Strictly live tour. The tour is set to continue with performances in Leeds and Manchester, culminating on February 9, reports the Manchester Evening News.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Wynne decided to exit the live show due to revelations of 'inappropriate' remarks made during a photocall. Taking to his Instagram, Wynne announced: "I've agreed with the BBC that I'll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing."

He expressed remorse for his actions, stating: "I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won't get to see at the remaining performances and I'm grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me."

Wynne also acknowledged his misstep at the tour launch, admitting, "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise."

Responding to the incident, a spokesman for the Strictly live tour and BBC Studios clarified: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour."

Katya, seemingly unphased by Wynne's departure, shared behind-the-scenes photos on her Instagram from the last few weeks, endearingly writing: "Shenanigans from the last few weeks. Let's dance for you Manchester".

The behind-the-scenes photos featured Gladiator sensation Montell Douglas and the talented Michelle Tsiakkas catching some z's together, a Pilates session in progress, a cosy group shot of the cast, and her twirling around with Eastenders star Jamie Borthwick.

The Strictly family swarmed the comments section, with Montell chiming in: "Mid show naps hit different" and Jamie playfully remarking: "I smell a tele spin into a lunge..."

Instagram user @ashleigh_sarah_luckhurst pondered: "Does Jamie ever stop dancing? Or is if just his whole personality now haha", prompting Katya to respond with enthusiasm: "He doesn't. HE IS DANCE! ".
