Ben Affleck and J. Lo ‘Would Love to Stay in Each Other’s Lives’ Post Divorce: ‘On the Same Page’

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are both super relieved to have settled their incredibly draining divorce proceedings after months of ticky-tack negotiations, and now they’re hoping to build a solid friendship so they can still help each other out as much as possible while ensuring their kids’ blended family friendship doesn’t fall by the wayside, either, a source exclusively tells In Touch.

The couple relived their early 2000s glory days for a brief period after reconnecting and going official in 2021 – getting engaged once again shortly afterwards – but this time following through with the marriage in 2022. Though, just shy of their second anniversary, Ben, 52, and J. Lo, 55, began having serious relationship issues.

In Touch was the first to report there was trouble in paradise back in May 2024, detailing the fact they’ve been split since the month prior. As it turns out, according to the divorce filing J. Lo submitted in August that year, they declared their date of separation in April. In the interim, however, the two suffered a tortuous summer apart before finally pulling the plug.

Now, after months of haggling and petty negotiations over the not-so-shabby sum of their combined fortune, estimated to be around $600 million, they’ve finalized their divorce proceedings and are ready to move onto the next chapter of their relationship, which they hope will be as friends.

“Getting things all squared away has done wonders for the state of their relationship,” the source says. “They’re both saying they are impressed in the end by how sensible and fair it all came out and that’s left them both feeling about as happy as you could get after a divorce.”

The warm relations between the two parties is especially beneficial to their children. Ben, who shares his three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, had blended his family with J. Lo’s twins by ex-husband Marc Anthony to great success, as the kids really love each other and get along great. They’re often spotted linking up for various school related activities for both their kids in L.A.

“It’s a really hopeful sign that they managed to get through this without hating each other, because they would like to preserve their friendship,” the source says. “It’s also imperative to her that the kids continue to have a friendship as well. They’re both on the same page which is wonderful.”

“They have a lot of love and respect for each other and ideally would love to stay in each other’s lives,” the insider adds.

Ending their relationship on good terms – or at least setting up the next chapter of their relationship positively – isn’t impossible, as evidenced by Ben’s super warm and supportive friendship with Jen Garner. He was even clocked running to Jen, 52, and her current beau, John Miller, for advice and support throughout the whole divorce mess.

“Ben has managed to have a divorced relationship with Jennifer Garner that is so beautiful, so he does see it as possible,” the source notes. “J. Lo is certainly showing all the signs and actions that she wants the same thing and not just with Ben, she doesn’t want to lose the bond she has with his kids.”
