Big Brother star Yinrun Huang has opened up about a terrifying situation she’s been secretly dealing with over the past couple of years.
Yinrun won over fans with her silly antics in the 2023 season of Big Brother, and came in fourth place. Since then she’s made a name for herself on TikTok and Instagram, often making funny videos and pranking her husband, Luke.
Despite how happy she seems in her clips, the ITV star revealed that behind the scenes she’s been facing the fear of deportation - and that only thanks to her fans is she able to stay in the UK.
Sitting with Yinrun for an “emotional video,” her husband shared: “We wanted to talk about something that we’ve been struggling with for the past two years but that we’ve never spoken about publicly.”
“For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been living in the UK on a graduate visa since 2023, however that visa was due to expire this month so I had to get a new one. For the only visa route Luke and I could go down we had to meet a huge financial threshold that we honestly couldn’t reach,” Yinrun explained.
Luke continued: “No chance. A lot of you may be wondering, after we got married surely that would mean Yinrun would be able to stay anyway but that’s actually not the case. Even after marriage we still would have to meet that significantly high financial threshold that we couldn’t. And that actual threshold went up last April to an even higher amount that we couldn’t reach, which was quite scary.”
Yinrun looked devastated as she admitted: “At the start of 2024 we felt there was a 50-50 chance that I’d have to leave the UK and we couldn’t see each other, and every time when we think about that it was just heartbreaking for both of us,” with Luke adding that they’d been “preparing to be a long distance relationship.”
“However, things started to change in the past 12 months because of you guys. You’ve been watching our videos, supporting the channel. That’s why we are finally able to meet that financial threshold,” Yinrun said.
Her husband then confirmed that the TV personality was here to stay, announcing: “Because of all the support that you’ve given us and the career we’ve been able to make out of this, Yinrun’s visa has been approved!” After he and Yinrun cheered, he then added: “So we wanted to say thank you to each and every one of you, because literally our future has been secured.”
Yinrun and Luke got engaged in August last year, with Luke secretly learning Chinese so that he could propose in Yinrun’s own language. The couple then surprised fans by marrying soon after in December, and not announcing their plans until after the intimate wedding had taken place.
“My parents flew all the way from China to meet Luke for the first time and attend the wedding," Yinrun shared as she posted photos of the ceremony on Instagram. “I was so happy our parents could all make it to our special day. We couldn’t wish for a better day than this.”
