Hitmaker Britney has spent Christmas with her son Jayden for the first time in years and shared an emotional tribute for being able to spend time with her darling boy

Britney Spears has spent Christmas with her son for the first time in years.

The hitmaker behind tracks like Womanizer and Oops, I Did It Again has been sharing her memories of this year's Christmas Day with fans as she continues to deal with life outside of her conservatorship. It's also her first Christmas since her divorce from ex-husband Sam Asghari.

But in a heartfelt moment, Britney shared that she had seen her darling son Jayden, 18, for the first time in two years over the Christmas break. Jayden, together with brother Sean Preston, 19, jetted off to Britney, 43, after they went to live with dad Kevin Federline in Hawaii.

Following her dramatic mental breakdown in 2007, Kevin filed for full custody of the children, which only worsened the Scream and Shout songstress' woes. Things escalated for the star, with her shaving her hair and attacking a car with an umbrella, as she cracked under immediate pressure from the media.

Kevin and Britney, who had been married for two years, finalised their divorce in June of 2007, but a bitter custody battle soon erupted which ended with the kids moving to Kevin's home last year. The emotions were clear to see for Britney fans as the Piece of Me singer broke down in tears as she had the "best Christmas of her life".

The star shared a slew of snaps of her and her son sat next to each other in a restaurant close to a fireplace to celebrate the big day. Posting the pics to her Instagram stories, Britney beamed to her 42 million followers: "Best Christmas of my life! I haven't seen my boys in 2 years!

"Tears of joy and literally in shock everyday koo koo crazy so in love and blessed!" she added. "I'm speechless - thank you Jesus!"

Britney has been trying to rebuild her relationship with her sons following the bitter battle for custody and her conservatorship, which saw Britney lose all access to her finances. Speaking to Page Six, a source close to the Gimme More singer said that the mum is taking the steps slowly to rebuild trust.

"She and her sons are really focusing on rebuilding their bond," the insider explained, adding that things are already moving in the right direction. "These things are a process in every family dynamic."

According to US Weekly, another source revealed that it was Jayden who had reached out to Britney while he is "spending time back in California but does not live with Britney". Britney has been a doting mum to her two kids, posting a heartfelt tribute to the duo back in September ahead of their birthdays.

At the time, she penned in a post on her Instagram: "This month is my boys' birthdays! Happy birthday babies and I hope you get all your wishes and more!"
