BRITS are set to dominate Hollywood’s 2025 Golden Globes after picking up a flurry of nominations yesterday.
Kate Winslet led a list of home-grown talent in nominations announced yesterday.
The 49-year-old is up for Best Actress — Motion Picture Drama for Lee, in which she plays war photographer Lee Miller.
Eddie Redmayne, 42, got a nod for Sky Atlantic’s Day Of The Jackal, while Kiera Knightly, 39, was recognised for Netflix spy series Black Doves.
Baby Reindeer has three nominations including Best TV Actor in a miniseries for Richard Gadd, 35, as well as Best Actress for Jessica Gunning, 38.
Fellow Brits Colin Farrell, 48, Andrew Scott, 48, Gary Oldman, 66, and Ewan McGregor, 53, are also on the list, along with Hugh Grant, 64, Ralph Fiennes, 61, Jack Lowden, 34, Tilda Swinton, 64, and former 007 Daniel Craig, 56.
Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl has been nominated for Best Animated Motion Picture.
Cynthia Erivo, 37, is up for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture for her role as Elphaba in fantasy blockbuster Wicked.
Her US co-star Ariana Grande, 31 — nominated for her portrayal of Glinda ) wrote on Instagram: “Oh my goodness.
“I am simply, so deeply grateful for this acknowledgement.”
Elsewhere, fellow singer Robbie Williams, 50, received his first ever Golden Globes nomination.
His emotional track Forbidden Road from his biopic Better Man is up for Best Original Song,
Robbie told The Sun: “This is an incredible honour.
“I would like to thank my friend and director Michael Gracey, who put his absolute heart and soul into this project to tell my life story on the big screen.
“I also want to thank the Golden Globes for acknowledging this song – it’s very personal to me and was a labour of love to create with my wonderful co-writers Freddy Wexler and Sacha Skarbek, who I’m also very grateful to.
“This really means the world to me and I’m humbled to be included among the other brilliant nominees this morning.”
The 2025 Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 5.
For the first time the event will host a swanky dinner as well as the televised ceremony.
Meanwhile, a number of Hollywood heavyweights missed out on nominations.
Despite Wicked picking up four nominations, director Jon Chu failed to get a nod in the Best Director category.
Lady Gaga, 38 and Joaquin Phoenix, 50, also failed to be nominated for their performances in Joker: Folie à Deux.
Emilia Pérez, a film about a Mexican lawyer who helps a cartel boss retire and transition into a woman, has become the most nominated musical/comedy in the awards history.
It picked up ten nominations.
