Bucks' Doc Rivers Changes Tune, Supports Donald Trump After Bashing Him

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has been an outspoken critic of now President-elect Donald Trump for a long time. He appeared in multiple campaign advertisements with democratic nominee Kamala Harris and voiced his support for her.

But with Trump now winning the 2024 Presidential Election, Rivers has changed his tune a little bit, even if he isn't happy with the results of the election. The longtime NBA coach is now saying that Americans should stand with him and hope that he does well.

"Donald Trump is our president, and we're going to have to support him. We want him to do the best job for the country at the end of the day," Rivers told reporters after practice Wednesday. Do I like some of the things that he does? No. But now he's getting a second chance to be a better president than he was the first time, and I hope he is. I'm cheering for him. I really am."

Rivers has been around the NBA for a long time so he has seen the ever-changing landscape of the game and the world. While he wanted Harris to win, he understood that others disagreed with his stance.

"I've known Kamala. This is the most involved I've ever been in an election, and a lot of it was personal because I've known Kamala for over 15 years. I thought she would have been a terrific president," Rivers said Wednesday. "The problem is 65 million-plus disagreed with me."

He isn't the only NBA figure to speak out against Trump but Rivers is now hoping for the better. If anything, maybe he wanted to show some level of unity despite his disagreements.

The Bucks coach has been trying to figure out his own issues as Milwaukee has started the year off very poorly. They sit with a record of 2-6 on the season and it hasn't been pretty.

Milwaukee hasn't shown any signs of consistency on either end of the floor and it has hurt them in the standings. They've been without star forward Khris Middleton to start the year as he deals with an injury.

But the Bucks should have enough to win games with co-stars Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard leading the charge. If they can't change things quickly, big changes could be coming to Milwaukee.
