Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Budget for the Financial Year 2025-2026 today on 1 February 2025. Earlier, on Friday, 31 January, she presented the Economic Survey 2024-25 in Parliament. The survey said that India’s GDP could grow at the rate of 6.3-6.8 percent in the financial year 2025-26 amid global uncertainty. According to the Economic Survey, inflation is under control. The average inflation has come down to 4.9 in the April-December period of FY25, which was 5.4 percent in FY24.

Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver the eighth budget of her tenure through a digital tablet that rests in a traditional ‘bai-khata’ style envelope on Saturday. In July 2019 Sitharaman made history as both India’s first full-time female finance minister who ended a colonial custom by using a traditional ‘bahi-kata’.

She maintained the tradition of budget document presentation with a digital tablet in both the second and third budget delivery while the pandemic required her to use a digital tablet rather than traditional papers. She maintains this customs into her current ministry.

Budget 2025 Date and Time

Budget 2025 will be presented in the Lok Sabha today on February 1, 2025 at 11AM and can be watched live on mobile phones and TV. Sitharaman will outline the major budgetary allocations and revenue expectations for the coming financial year. After her speech in the lower house, the budget documents will be presented in the Rajya Sabha.

Budget 2025 will be live streamed and can be watched on the Union Budget website, Doordarshan, the government’s official YouTube and Sansad TV. Apart from this, the budget will also be live streamed on many news channels.

The digital copy of the budget documents is available on the government’s official website www.indiabudget.gov.in. These documents are available in both Hindi and English languages.
