Baldwin is currently global chief digital and information officer at Costa Coffee where she oversees the company's technology, digital and data organisation.

Prior to joining Costa Coffee, she was chief information, digital and transformation officer at healthcare company Bupa Insurance. She has also held senior technology roles at law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, education provider Pearson and Thomson Reuters.

Baldwin will take up her new role at Burberry in March, and will be responsible for leading the luxury brand's global technology team. She will join the executive committee and report to Burberry CEO Joshua Schulman.

Schulman has made a number of key appointments since he took the helm in July, replacing Jonathan Akeroyd. These included hiring former Topshop/Topman CEO Paul Price as chief product merchandising and planning officer, Jonathan Kiman as chief marketing officer and Laura Dubin-Wander as president of Americas.

Schulman said: "Charlotte is a highly experienced technology and digital leader with a track record of leading large-scale digital transformation.

"I am delighted that Charlotte will be joining our leadership team and look forward to working with her to advance our technological capabilities and drive our strategy forward."
