More dates for Busted and McFly's "head-to-head" tour have been announced this week.

It was announced earlier this month that the two bands will visit venues in the UK and Ireland on the Busted vs McFly Tour next year. Tickets for the upcoming tour, described as the "ultimate battle of the bands," went on sale last week and three additional dates have since been confirmed.

The extra shows are for the Utilita Arena in Newcastle on October 12, the Utilita Arena in Birmingham on October 28 and at the O2 in London on October 30. Pre-sale launched on Wednesday and general sale opens on Friday at 9am.

Announcing the new gigs, McFly and Busted wrote in a joint post shared on Instagram on Tuesday: "Go on then. The response to the tour has been incredible and we're adding 3 final dates in Newcastle, Birmingham and London."

The joint tour was announced just weeks ago after Busted "crashed" a McFly gig amid celebrations for the latter band's 21st anniversary. One subsequent about the tour teased: "Every saga has an ending. [...] The ultimate battle of the bands." Whilst another on social media read: "It's time to settle this once and for all. Whose team are you on?"

The tour includes shows in Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Dublin, Nottingham and Belfast, among other cities. There's still availability for some performances already on general sale through the likes of Ticketmaster, Ticketek and AXS, and through some venue websites. Additionally, it was reported earlier that some resale tickets are available elsewhere, as well as through the official ticket vendors.

In a statement issued over the news of the tour, McFly said: "Busted gatecrashed our show (not cool), and challenged us to a VS tour next year. They're old men now, and we are gonna blow them and their carers off the stage next year. We've had a great time celebrating our 21st birthday [recently] and next year is going to be even better - P.S Busted suck."

Whilst Busted added in their own statement ahead of the joint tour next year: "There's been a lot of talk recently…. This is where the talking ends! We are ready to show who is the better band once and for all. McFly suck and Busted rock!"

McFly - which consists of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Harry Judd and Dougie Poynter - previously merged with Busted - which includes James Bourne, Matt Willis and Charlie Simpson - to form McBusted. The supergroup has toured together previously and fans have expressed excitement over the two bands taking to the stage together on the upcoming tour.
