Hallmark alum Cameron Mathison praised his estranged wife Vanessa in a social media post as the family navigates the devastating loss of their California home.
On January 8, the “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” star revealed the loss in an Instagram post. The recent wildfire in Pacific Palisades completely destroyed Mathison’s long-time family home.
The couple announced their separation in July 2024, but it has appeared they have remained on good terms with one another. That certainly seemed to be the case with her recent Instagram post and as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
After she posted her touching thoughts on what the family lost, and what they still hold onto, the Hallmark alum thanked her and noted he thought it was a “beautiful post.”
Vanessa Mathison Reflected on What It Hurt to Lose the Most
On January 22, Vanessa Mathison shared a video and lengthy caption on her Instagram page. The video was a montage of moments the Mathison family experienced while living in their Pacific Palisades home. She used the Radiohead song “Daydreaming” in the background.
In many of the highlights, the couple’s kids were quite young. Now, they are both attending college in Europe.
Vanessa Mathison wrote, “It’s been 14 days since we lost our home. We are still in shock and disbelief.”
“The grief of losing our home is devastating and crushing. Our home was not just walls and things… it was the physical representation of the deep love we have for our children. It was the house where our children grew up. It held memories of birthday celebrations, Christmas, baking, tamale making, best friend sleep-overs, teenage hangouts, family and friend gatherings, and quiet movie nights,” she explained.
Mathison also noted, “It was music at all times… Lucas on his drums, Leila on her piano. We had hard times, as well as the most loving and meaningful experiences of our life in this home. The loss of irreplaceable items hurts the most… the kid’s baby photos, their yearly school photos, elementary school art projects the kids gave to us for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, portraits we took when both kids were 5 days old. the journals we all wrote during our family vacations, Leila’s song writing journal she’s been working on since 7th grade, and every single beautifully written card Lucas and Leila ever gave us was lost…and each day we remember more things that are gone.”
Despite the heartbreak over everything they lost, she also shared, “We have come together as a family to heal. As our son, Lucas, said four days after the fire…’We’re going to be ok❤️❤️❤️.'”
