Candace Owens has words for Beyoncé and her mother Tina Knowles after accusing the singer of being paid to support Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
In social media comments collected by The Shade Room, Tina Knowles claimed her Grammy-winning daughter’s appearance for a political event last month was self-funded, sharing a post from Owens asserting it was not.
“It’s called false information,” wrote the 70-year-old. According to The Independent, Queen Bey appeared at a Houston rally for Harris alongside her mother and Kelly Rowland in October, endorsing the VP and speaking to issues such as women’s rights. Harris ultimately lost the election to President-elect Donald Trump. The comment was supported by John Legend, who also claimed he endorsed Harris for free.
“Sadly other platforms with a lack of integrity still have it up. The lie is that Beyoncé was paid 10 million dollars to speak at a rally in Houston for Vice President Kamala Harris. When in fact: Beyoncé did not receive a penny for speaking at a presidential candidate’s…rally in Houston. In fact, she actually paid for her own flights for her and her team, and total glam,” continued Tina Knowles on Instagram.
After the response from Mama Tina, Owens was still dissatisfied. She responded to the message with more vitriol and downplayed the impact of the Lemonade performer, as well as husband JAY-Z.
“This is an economy where authenticity pays, and Beyoncé does not remember what it means to be authentic anymore because she’s been playing the role of a queen for so long, and she’s gotten accustomed to visiting the commonwealth every four years. She comes out…and she reminds us all who we should be voting for…Her and JAY-Z,” opined Owens.
Per TSR Owens continued, “Beyoncé listen to me, girlfriend, ’cause I know you’re watching. You don’t gotta text from your mommy’s burner account on Instagram. You’re annoying now. It’s just tired. You gotta switch it up. Do something new. Seem like a person, pretend you care about the commonwealth. Maybe every two years, come out. Do a podcast. Pretend to be a human being.”
Beyoncé is not the only celeb accused of taking payment to support Harris. Cardi B was asked by Owens if she received money for appearing at Harris’ When We Vote We Win Rally in Milwaukee, WI, earlier this month.
“I didn’t get paid a dollar and that’s on my three!!” detailed the Bronx rapper. “I actually came out of pocket for glam and travel because it’s somewhere I wanted to be.. Like please girl you know damn well I’ll argue you down about politics FOR FREE.”
Oprah Winfrey also combated rumors that she was paid for her endorsement. In response to a fan on Instagram proclaiming the media mogul could not be purchased, she clarified that any monetary transactions involved her production company for necessary expenses associated with the live-stream conversation between Winfrey and Harris in September.
“For the live-streaming event in September, my production company Harpo was asked to bring in set design, lights, cameras, microphones, crew, producers, and every other item necessary (including the benches and chairs we sat on) to put on a live production,” she explained. “I did not take any personal fee. However the people who worked on the production needed to be paid. And were. End of story.”
