Cardi B has taken a stand against Elon Musk after the tech mogul called her a "puppet" when she appeared flustered during a teleprompter glitch at Kamala Harris's rally in Milwaukee on Friday.
Unapologetically defending her roots, the rapper responded, "I'm not a puppet, Elon. I'm a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me!"
Cardi went on to add, "I'm a product of welfare, I'm a product of Section 8, of poverty, and of what happens when the system is set up against you."
Cardi's strong words come after Musk posted a video of her struggling with her speech on X, following a technical mishap with the teleprompter.
He commented, "Another puppet who can't even talk without being fed the words. The Kamala campaign has no authenticity or true empathy."
However, Cardi didn't hold back, replying that Musk, despite his influence, "doesn't know one thing about the American struggle," emphasizing her personal experiences that shape her perspective.
A rally interrupted by technical difficulties
During the Milwaukee rally, Cardi admitted she was "a little nervous" as she attempted to read from the malfunctioning teleprompter, confessing that speaking at the rally was a moment she'd "been waiting for [her] whole life."
The artist asked the crowd for patience and rallied them with, "Are we ready to change the next eight years?" Later, her team provided her speech on a phone, helping her continue.
Cardi B joins a group of high-profile figures endorsing Harris's campaign as the election draws near.
She is among several entertainers showing support for the Vice President, standing alongside Jennifer Lopez, who attended a rally in Las Vegas, and Beyonc?, who recently spoke at Harris's event in Houston.
These celebrity endorsements underscore a growing movement among prominent voices calling for voter engagement as Harris campaigns against former President Donald Trump.
