Carmen Bryan reveals how she first cheated on Nas with Jay-Z before falling pregnant

Jay-Z and Carmen Bryan saw each other for years while she was dating fellow rapper Nas, and she described how she 'woke up to' Jay-Z kissing her on a couch after a dinner out

Carmen Bryan, 52, who had a years-long affair with Jay-Z, 55, has spoken about how they first kindled their secret relationship.

The singer wrote an autobiography back in 2006, It's No Secret: From Nas to Jay-Z, from Seduction to Scandal - a Hip-Hop Helen of Troy Tells All. In the book, Carmen touches upon Jay-Z - real name Shawn Corey Carter - whom she fell pregnant with while dating rapper Nas.

“This Shawn character appeared to be wise beyond his years. Shawn was very warm and extremely humble, with a wonderful sense of humor,” she wrote of Jay-Z in the book, adding: “Over dinner I decided he and I would be good friends for a very long time.”

Carmen added that she was in “no condition to drive home,” so they went to a mutual friend’s house together and she decided to spend the night there. “Shawn and I sat on the couch and pretended to watch television. Before long I drifted off to sleep. I woke up with Shawn kissing me. His lips were so soft and luscious and I began to melt into him,” she described.

Nas’ ex wrote how Jay-Z’s hands “began to roam” but she wasn’t feeling it at the time. A year later, the Roc Nation founder supposedly made his intentions clear.

Carmen claimed that Jay-Z pointed out that it had been a year, and asked when they were “going to do it,” and she told him they would have sex when she was “ready.” After another period of waiting, Carmen described when she first slept with Jay-Z and kicked off an affair that caused incredible beef between Beyoncé’s now-husband and legendary rapper Nas.

Carmen explained that she “had to make sure his intentions were right' before taking the next step with Jay-Z, and described how: “We started kissing and it was rather intense. Somehow we ended up in his bedroom. He started to undress me and this time I didn’t resist. My clothes were off in a flash and so were his.”

Jay-Z and Carmen were involved from 1995 to 2000, culminating with her falling pregnant at the age of 26, but sadly suffering a miscarriage. Around the same time, Jay-Z was rumoured to be linked to teenage rapper Foxy Brown, now 46. Foxy hit the music scene in 1994 aged just 15, after winning a talent contest in New York.

Soon after, in early 1996, Foxy’s vocals were featured on the song ‘Ain’t No N***a’ by Jay-Z, with Foxy singing lyrics including: Ain't no n***a like the one I got. Sleeps around but he gives me a lot. Friends'll tell me I should leave you alone.”

Foxy spoke of her early days in the industry at the age of 15, sharing how Jay-Z was vital to her music career. “Jay can tell you... he'll have to pick me up from school and take me to the studio,” she said in 2005. She added that she was “a monster at 15” for balancing taking school by correspondence while “knocking out” tracks.

Nas - who at this point knew about Jay-Z and Carmen - fuelled rumours that he and teenage Foxy were more than musical collaborators with his 2001 diss track, Ether, in which he rapped: “Foxy got you hot 'cause you kept your face in her p***.”
