Scottish weathercaster Carol Kirkwood delivered some very good news for BBC fans in the run up to the Xmas festivities - unless they were hoping for a white Christmas. The resident BBC Breakfast weather presenter shared that temperatures are actually set to rise this Christmas Eve.
Posting to X (formerly Twitter), the 62-year-old shared: "It is going to be an exceptionally mild Christmas Eve. Temperatures overnight have actually gone up.
"If you are just stepping out at the moment, this is what you can expect. So different from this time yesterday!!"
Carol then shared an infographic showing temperatures of eight degrees in Norwich, 10 in Blackpool, 11 in Cardiff and 12 across Armagh, Tain Range and Edinburgh.
Followers of the TV star seemed to be delighted with the news, with them all saying the same thing. One commented, writing: "Yes we are legs eleven this morning Carol thank but no sunshine yet lol enjoy your Christmas too."

Another wrote: "Have a great Christmas Carol. Keep smiling!," as another echoed: "Thanks Carol, Merry Crimbo xx".
Meanwhile a fourth noted the unusally high figures, as they asked: "Average temperature SHOULD be 2-6°, is this the shape of shape of things to come?"
Recently the presenter was caught off-guard as her colleague scooped her up for an on-air kiss. Carol delivered her latest forecast in Covent Garden in London where fake snow fell as she spoke directly to Jon Kay and Sally Nugent who were live in the BBC studios.
The weather reporter, who tied the knot with her husband Steve last year, was left in shock when what, at first appeared to be a passerby, leaned in to grab the forecaster for a cheeky on-screen kiss.

A flustered Carol commented, "Oh, I say... Tim."
Following the on-air interruption, Carol confirmed to viewers the man in question was her colleague. She said: "That's Tim our science engineer. We're good friends. I wasn't expecting that."
Back in the BBC studio, Jon chuckled: "She's blushing." Sally cheekily remarked: "No she's not. Although, I'm sure they're really good friends now."
