The Cleveland Cavaliers have been the best team in the NBA all season, showing dominance along the way. However, there are still holes on their roster and it could hold them back from achieving their goal of bringing another title to the city of Cleveland.
Cleveland has a stacked roster from top to bottom but they lack wing depth. This is their biggest weakness and it could cost them down the line if they don't address everything.
But with the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching, the Cavaliers have a chance to bring in some real talent. In this new trade scenario, the Cavaliers address their issues and bring in a former NBA champion to help the frontcourt.
The deal would be between the Cavaliers and Washington Wizards, landing forward Kyle Kuzma in Cleveland. After using the Spotrac trade machine, here is what a deal could look like:
Cavaliers receive: Kyle Kuzma
Wizards receive: Caris LeVert, Isaac Okoro, and a 2028 first-round pick.
Kuzma could add more size to the Cavaliers' rotation and he has improved his rebounding in recent years. Being moved to a contending team could see an uptick in production from him and Kuzma could seriously make a difference for this Cleveland team.
The veteran forward could bring more consistency to the Cavaliers and he knows what it takes to win a title. Kuzma won the championship while with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020 and could bring his experience to the table with this young Cleveland team.
On the year, Kuzma has averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. The forward has dealt with some injuries this season but seems to have put them in the past.
Washington would land an expiring deal in LeVert, giving them some additional financial flexibility. But the big prize here for the Wizards would be the first-round draft pick toward the end of the decade.
With the Cavaliers being a small market team, there is no guarantee they will still be competitive come 2028. Teams like Cleveland tend to have windows of opportunity to win before they typically see themselves drop in terms of contention.
All in all, this seems like a win-win type of deal for both sides. The Cavaliers push the chips in to win this season while the Wizards set themselves up nicely down the line.
