Celebrities Reveal Their Biggest Dating Red Flags and Icks: Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, More

Red flags and icks — two buzzwords that have taken over social media and our dating lives! These terms capture those little warning signs (or cringey moments) that make us stop and wonder if someone’s truly *the one.* A red flag? That’s when someone’s behavior, like being rude to a waiter or never asking you any questions, hints they might not be as trustworthy or kind as you’d hope. An ick, though, is a whole other vibe — it’s that harmless moment that just makes you go cringe, like someone’s bizarre sneeze or an awkward chase towards a runaway ping-pong ball.  Celebrities, too, have their own lists of dating icks and red flags, and they’ve started spilling their own hilariously relatable stories!

One celebrity who gave a very random dating red flag is Gen Z pop star Olivia Rodrigo.

“This is a very oddly specific question that I ask guys on first dates: I always ask them if they think that they would want to go to space,” Olivia, who is currently dating Louis Partridge, shared during a Netflix interview posted on Instagram Nov. 1. “And if they say yes, I don’t date them.”

She explained, “I just think if you wanna go to space, you’re a little too full of yourself. I think it’s just weird.”

She wasn’t the only one alone in her red flag opinion! Grimes, whose ex is Space X founder Elon Musk, also chimed in on the conversation online.

“It’s true,” Grimes wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to a reposted video of the singer’s interview. “Only women should be going to space.”

Olivia seems to have found love with Louis, who most likely doesn’t want to go to space! The two have been dating since late 2023, and Louis dished on his relationship with the pop star during an interview with Vogue UK earlier this year.

“Dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye,” he said in the March 2024 interview. “There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head. I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have. I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her case.”
