Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has achieved a massive new milestone in his career: he moved to No. 3 on the all-time list for receiving yards by a tight end.

Kelce entered Week 12's matchup against the Carolina Panthers ranked fourth in career receiving yards for a tight end at 11,835, just six yards shy of passing the legendary San Diego / Los Angeles Chargers TE Antonio Gates.
After both teams put points on the board in the first quarter, quarterback Patrick Mahomes continued to push the ball downfield, hitting Kelce on a short screen. Kelce made a powerful run after the catch, picking up 19 yards.
That catch moved the three-time Super Bowl winner into third place on the all-time tight end receiving yards list, surpassing Gates.
This is far from Kelce's first record in his NFL career. Among his achievements are the most receiving yards in a single season by a tight end, with 1,416 yards in 2020. He also holds the record for the most consecutive and overall seasons with 1,000 receiving yards by a tight end, having done so for seven straight seasons.
Kelce is the also NFL's all-time leader in postseason receptions, with 165, and became the fastest player to reach 10,000 career receiving yards, achieving the milestone in 2022 and making him the fifth tight end to do so.
Additionally, he set the record for the most 100-yard receiving games by a tight end, with 37, and at 35 years old, he became the oldest player in NFL history to record 14 or more catches in a game, accomplishing this feat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kelce has also rewritten the Chiefs' record book. He holds the franchise records for most career receptions, with 922, and most career receiving yards, totaling 11,486. He surpassed Tony Gonzalez for the most receptions in team history, setting that record with his 917th catch.
In short, the man is not a slouch at setting records. It seems very likely that he will continue to inch his way up the tight end career receiving yards list, although he still has to surpass Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten at number two (13,046) and fellow Kansas City Chief (and Atlanta Falcon) Tony Gonzalez at number one (15,127).
