Plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Christopher Nolan’s space epic Interstellar have been finalized after months of planning.

Commencing Dec. 6, Imax will host a one-week exclusive rerelease of the Paramount Pictures movie in 70mm film and digital in select cities in stats across the New York, California, Texas, Arizona, Indiana and Florida.

Tickets go on sale Nov. 7 for the 70mm film screenings. Advance ticket sales for digital screenings will be available later in November.

Interstellar — shot with 64 minutes in exclusive Imax aspect-ratio — earned $730 million at the global box office and picked up five Oscar nominations, with a win for best visual effects. The A-list cast includes Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Timothée Chalamet, Ellen Burstyn, Bill Irwin, Wes Bentley, David Oyelowo and Casey Affleck.

Nolan has worked closely with Imax for years, including when he made The Dark Knight trilogy for Warner Bros.

Last year, Nolan and Universal’s 2023 Oscar contender Oppenheimer earned nearly $1 billion at the global box office, including a hefty $190 million from Imax theaters alone (both film and digital).

Imax is once again working closely with Nolan on his next film starring Matt Damon, which Universal has set for a July 2026 release in theaters. During a recent earnings call, Imax execs hinted that Nolan will incorporate new, never-before-used technology for his latest endeavor.
