Last night, Giorgio Armani took its mainline show to the States for the first time ever.
Celebrating the grand opening of the new Madison Avenue building, the Italian fashion house stepped away from its seat at Milan Fashion Week, presenting its women’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection for an exclusive New York crowd.
The festivities took place at the Park Avenue Armory, a historic 19th-century building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, and kicked off with the arrival of two steam trains projected onto the walls. Models (or passengers) ‘disembarked’ as if stepping out from a different time, when travel called for a glamorous two-piece silk set over sweats. Props even included bellboys and a Labradoodle.
A raucous soiree followed the show. Guests included a mix of Hollywood heavyweights and talented up-and-comers, including Gemma Chan, Brie Larson, Brooke Shields, LaKeith Stanfield, Steven Yeun, Cooper Koch and Meghann Fahy, who were later treated to special performances from music legends Chaka Khan and James Blake.

After nearly five decades in business, Mr. Armani‘s latest offering masterfully threads together the luxuriate’s famous Italian craftsmanship while reinvigorating its enduring design aesthetics. As a theme, reinvention is a sentiment he equates to his host city.
“What I love most about New York is its speed, its constant reinvention, and its ability to remain both itself and entirely different,” he told Vogue before the evening’s show.
Titled In Viaggo, which translates to “on a journey”, the collection and its accompanying theatrics were a nod to the house’s connection to travel and adventure. The transition from tailoring and everyday separates into a slew of gowns was seamless thanks to Armani’s knack for making glamour feel effortless and ready-to-wear feel as opulent as eveningwear.
