Coleen Rooney once broke down over the worst time in her marriage to husband Wayne Rooney, and it wasn't his cheating.
The WAG, 38, has headed Down Under to appear in this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and is one of the famous faces in the Australian jungle, alongside Danny Jones, Melvin Odoom, Jane Moore and Alan Halsall. Before flying to Australia, Coleen confessed she was anxious about leaving her four children - Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass - behind, as well as her husband.
Coleen and Wayne have been together since they were teenagers, but their marriage has endured rocky moments throughout the years. The couple tied the knot in 2008, and they were plagued by rumours of cheating before they walked down the aisle, with Wayne confessing to visiting a brothel when he was just 16. Other cheating allegations followed, including an incident in 2017, when he was caught drink-driving in a car that wasn’t his.

Their marriage was pushed to breaking point, and they took some time apart as she reeled from the incident. In the Disney+ documentary The Real Wagatha Story, Coleen said she had fled to her parents’ house after Wayne was arrested and charged, and she confessed she had been battling thoughts of leaving her marriage for the first time.
Just a year later, Wayne was offered a contract with Washington-based DC United, and the mother-of-four admitted that the move to the US was the worst time in her relationship with the former England star. After the huge relocation, Coleen was left alone when they left - leaving her with long days at home alone while her boys were at school.
“When I was living in America, even though we had Wayne and the kids, there's no one else close by. And it was just our little family there in that big country. I felt so lonely. I've always thought there's no such thing as homesickness. I was homesick,” she sadly explained.
“Because of the things that have happened to my life, I try and be strong for others. I don't want people worrying about me when they've got their own worries in life. But sometimes I can crack,” she added, noting that the whole family made the move to Washington D.C. after Wayne’s scandal.

She was in a difficult place,” Wayne said, as Coleen’s mum Colette said it was a difficult time for her daughter, who was so distraught from her homesickness that she isolated herself further. “The children would FaceTime us every day and she was nowhere to be seen. She couldn't look at the camera. She couldn't have a conversation with us. Coleen does keep things to herself. She doesn't want to be a burden. And I think that's a coping mechanism of hers,” Colette shared.
